Comments by a neurologist:

"Always believed aerobic exercise, especially on a stationary bike, can be disease modifying, and have been recommending it my patients. Now the evidence is mounting. Congratulations to the team of researchers. Very exciting."

" MRI, clinical, and behavioral results converge towards the conclusion that aerobic exercise stabilizes disease progression in the cortico-striatal sensorimotor network and enhances cognitive performance. " Enhanced cognitive function? For me that's worth finding the full article rather than just the abstract.

Regarding the underlying mechanism enabling the slowed progression with cardio exercise, why are they not connecting the dots to autophagy? Keto increases autophagy. Fasting increases autophagy. Exercise increases autophagy. All of which are beneficial to PWP and also those with ALZ, MS, ALS and (other) autoimmune diseases. To make the cardio even more beneficial , they should do a study of PWP exercising while in a fasted state which increases autophagy more.

In the literal sense, autophagy means eating oneself. In the medical world the body works by immune cells attacking old or injured cells so they can be broken down and recycled into new tissue.

Thanks for the article😊. Why did the neurologist especially believe in stationary bikes?

Probably safety played a role.
