Dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome

I recently changed antidepressant medications from cipralex to trintellix . during the process I have experienced nausea vomiting, fatigue, anxiety, increased tremors and generally feeling unwell. I take sinemet three times a day and after my noon dose I get relief from these symptoms for up to four hours. The same with my 5 o’clock dose. I’m often watching the clock as the minutes inch by until I can take that next dose.

My psychiatrist thinks I may be experiencing dopamine agonist withdrawal syndrome.

The symptoms fit but I don’t see how changing an antidepressant could cause daws.

Any thoughts or similar experiences out there. Merry Christmas to all.

I am 67 female diagnosed in October 2018.

I take it you are not taking a dopamine agonist. Increased fatigue and anxiety are certainly not restricted to dopamine agonist withdrawal symptoms, which are:

pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/200...

" anxiety, panic attacks, agoraphobia, depression, dysphoria, diaphoresis, fatigue, pain, orthostatic hypotension, and drug cravings"

and the rest of your symptoms do not match. I think your psychiatrist is nuts.;-)

I suggest taking up increasing your Sinemet dosage frequency with your Parkinson's physician. There are also some nonprescription disease modifying ideas you can try if you are interested.

Thanks for your response. Psychiatrist consulted neurologist and called me today. Neurologist said more likely it’s on/ off syndrome I’m dealing with However I took my second Sinemet of the day at the four hour mark and my legs felt like lead and I fell asleep for two hours. Felt very groggy when I woke up. I took a third diner at the regular time and didn’t increase to four a day as suggested. It appears changing antidepressants is causing me grief. I’m not going to increase the sinemet as I’m just starting to feel better At 11 pm. Merry Christmas. Thanks again park_bear

After my diagnoses I went on trintellix as well as sinemet. I had a very rough go with symptoms you describe, I eventually went off the trintellix and the symptoms decreased tremendously. My not have been contributed to the trintellix entirely, as starting Sinemet has it's fair share of symptoms too.

Interesting. Thanks for your response. I’m sorry trintellix didn’t work for you either. Just this morning I have started weaning off of trintellix. Dr recommended cutting dose in half 5mg for 4 days and then start fluoxetine 10 mg after that.Did you have success with any other antidepressant after stopping trintellix?
