Hey⚡

How do you take your Ceylon Cinnamon, what food/drinks do you put it in. I don’t have enough variety and then I miss days, thanks...

I am so glad you asked! I like to share.

So... I have this big blue Bell Jar type glass (with a handle) I got at Walmart.

I make a huge glass of Tea every day at about 1 or 2 PM:

You can find all my brands on this web page I made: pdprotocols.atwebpages.com/...

Okay,

- 2 teaspoons of Matcha Tea

- 2 teaspoons of Ceylon Cinnamon

- 1 green tea teabag

- 1 black tea teabag

- (up until a couple days ago I was also adding 2 teaspoons of Mannitol, but I am rethinking Mannitol)

I add the boiling water and let it cool for an hour.

- Then I add 2 teaspoons of ground Nigella Sativa seed (you will quickly learn to enjoy the taste of these ground seeds in your mouth. They add texture, but are good).

- Then I add the biggest heaping teaspoon full of raw honey that I can. It is probably at least a tablespoonful.

Mix it all up!

You will have a lot of sediment sitting on the bottom, which is really cool because once you drink 2 thirds of it you can just add more water and swirl it around and you have a fresh glass! I love it.

I thought PB has written that cinnamon loses its efficacy if heated.

Yes. Add the cinnamon after it is cooled down to drinkable temperature.

Yikes! Glad I did share! Straight from park_bear pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.102...

" trans-Cinnamaldehyde, the principal component of cinnamon flavor, is a potent antimicrobial compound present in essential oils such as cinnamon.... starting at ∼60 °C, pure cinnamaldehyde undergoes a temperature-dependent transformation to benzaldehyde under the influence of heat"

Time to update my recipe! Thanks!

Apologies for being such a Dave, but I had to nail this down:

- park_bear provided the link showing you don't want to heat Cinnamaldehyde pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.102...

- And this link confirms that "cinnamaldehyde should be metabolized into cinnamic acid and then sodium benzoate" research.va.gov/currents/07...

So... if you mess with the cinnamaldehyde, you mess with the magic. Thanks Juliegrace thanks park_bear!

I am still wondering if there is a line between destroying cinnamaldehyde and breaking it down a bit with heat so it gets metabolized easier. I will keep researching. For now I may heat one teaspoon but not the second. Apologies again for being such a me.

Reading through my notes I see the cinnamon is converted to NaB in the liver. That seems to make it likely that heating it is not going to help it convert to NaB any better. Waiting until the water cools to add cinnamon!

I add it to my oatmeal. If for some reason I am not having oatmeal that day I stir it into a cup of almond milk.

Huh, and I have been avoiding sodium benzoate in foods!

I didn't know about heating or not heating the cinnamon. I ordered Ceylon Cinnamon capsules. I'd twist a couple apart and pour the powder into a cup of coffee. The cinnamon didn't dissolve but would settle. When nearly done I'd pour water in and agitate and swallow before it could settle again.
