Sutras for Meditation

I don't have the hang of Meditation yet, but I found this sutra and just listening to it makes me feel I am getting part of the way there: Heart Sutra by Lama Khenpo Pema Choephel Rinpoche youtu.be/HySLYcu2ULA

Anybody else have good meditation sutras, sounds, songs?

This is what I have been working with lately. This is a work in progress and I am not making any claims to healing efficacy. That said, the energy feels extraordinarily powerful.

The Heart Sutra – Expanding Into Creator Energy

Heart Sutra:

The Heart Sutra is at the core of Buddhism. It essentially a list of every thing not to do in order to practice properly, which is to be fully present in the here and now. It has been studied and practiced for 2500 years so it packs a lot of power. I find the Heart Sutra and its mantra, in combination with Doctor Kim's teaching on healing, to be a powerful synergy.

In part:

There is no suffering, no cause of suffering,

no end to suffering, no path to follow.

There is no attainment of wisdom,

and no wisdom to attain.

The Bodhisattvas rely on the Perfection of Wisdom,

and so with no delusions,

they feel no fear,

and have Nirvana here and now.

The mantra at the end of the heart sutra:

Gate Gate Paragate Parasamgate Bodhi Svaha

"Oh awakening that has gone, gone, gone beyond, gone completely beyond. Amen."

I love it. I’m ordering dr. Kim’s book and reading heart sutra.

This parallels, on a bodily level, allowing the body to be in parasympathetic mode, rest, digest and regenerate,

PB, have you had any direct experience with Dr.Kim.?

Her year-long course is a bit pricey. She offers a vast amount of teachings for free on her YouTube channel here:

I cannot say this work has improved my Parkinson's, but I have received improvement in a chronic pain condition and it has elevated my spiritual practice.

Thanks PB. There's a course starting in May. Looking into it. I love her energy. I've worked with an osteopath who puts me in total parasympathetic flow, but too expensive for ongoing.

I have found Insight Timer to be invaluable. You can access courses, music, brief meditation supports, live sessions, yoga and a wide variety of helpful resources. It is free for most material and taught by volunteer instructors from all over the world. You may access longer courses that are, largely, organized around 15-20 minute segments for $60 a year. I chose to subscribe, have used the site for about 9 months, taken 7 10-12 session courses on meditation practice, mental relaxation, and restorative sleep. My meditation skills are increasing and practice nightly. My dentist was also very impressed as I rhythmically breathed through replacement of a broken tooth!

I listen to two every morning before I get up. First Lisa Hubler: Deep Relaxation, and the Davidji: Deep Healing. I start my day happy and relaxed. The challenge is to stay that way all day!!
