Has anyone noticed improvement with Rem behaviour sleep disorder from taking B1? Thanks

RBD and vit B1
I am a caregiver for a pwp who used to have intense RBD but since he has been on 20mg of melatonin, it has vanished completely.
Hi Sara, I find 6-9 cups of greens a day really helps and I also take a magnesium supplement. I take a multi B vitamin so I don't know about the B1 sorry. For me melatonin made it worse and I reached tolerance level with clonazepam. The condition has improved over 8 years. Cheers
Hi Sara
My husband had dramatic improvement with his REM after taking B1.
We are forever adjusting his dosage and that is one of the symptoms when it recurs that we use as a guide to cut back.
He started on 1000 mg in January 2019 and now he is on 100 mg.
It is melatonin that is noted for this effect and melatonin is also noted for improving PD.

Thanks Art! I think I need to go back to 10 mg (I had dropped to 5 to mimic the 2 mg resetting the circadian rhythm protocol) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/324...
Methods: This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted among 60 patients with PD. Participants were randomly divided into two groups to intake either 10 mg melatonin (two melatonin capsules, 5 mg each) (n = 30) or placebo (n = 30) once a day, 1 h before bedtime for 12 weeks.
Conclusions: Overall, melatonin supplementation for 12 weeks to patients with PD had favorable effects on the UPDRS part I score, PSQI, BDI, BAI, hs-CRP, TAC, GSH, insulin levels, HOMA-IR, total-, LDL-cholesterol, and gene expression of TNF-α, PPAR-γ and LDLR, but did not affect other metabolic profiles.
When you refer to "REM behaviour disorder," do you mean sleepwalking, sleeptalking and kicking during REM sleep, or do you instead mean internal vibrations/internal tremors that are triggered by REM sleep?
REM Sleep Behavior Disorder is lack of muscle atonia while sleeping. Muscles should be paralyzed but they are not. This leads to dream enactment such as talking and fighting in your sleep. Hitting walls and falling out of bed. I don't think sleep walking is the same thing. Nor the internal vibrations.
