Is Carbidopa/Levodopa 8x’s a day to much when you have the DBS?

My setting is on 3.30 left side, 1.00 right side. My doctor seems to give me more medicine instead of turning it up and I feel like it is causing a lot more symptoms.

I thought they would have some form of "DBS technician" or nurse to optimize the DBS settings?

Have you had that?

Hi, this is hard for you as it is so technical. Also symptoms of overdose can seem the same as underdose. I think 3.30 is already a high setting so perhaps the doctor can't turn it up much more. What strength of levadopa do you take?Personally I found my meds were too high but it took a while to work this out and then it took a long time to lower them and get sorted.

Hi! I have been off all meds for the last year. Got my DBS in 2019. L - 3.5 R 3.0 My Neuro took me off meds because there was such a small window betweendyskinesia and symptoms reappearing.I still have some tremor in my legs and have some gait issues. I've had PD for 11 yrs. and it is heaven not taking C/L. was taking a pill every 2 hrs before DBS....had severe dyskinesia before surgery. I guess I would rather turn up the DBS and cut back on meds. I know my circumstance is not typical. Good luck!

Similar situation. Had DBS in Feb 2000. Experienced a Honeymoon phase for a few months. Heaven! Now my settings are 1.0L/3.2R and I take one 25/100cl every 3 hours. Neuro advises adding 2 half doses to control reemergence of symptoms instead of upping settings. What is the max for both?
