Duo Coronet vs Vielight

I couldn't find this comparison done before in the searches

Any thoughts on advantages, disadvantages and comparative benefits and effectiveness for PwP tremors and other symptoms

If you had bought one over the other, what criteria tipped your decision? Cost? Reviews? Or other?

I'm about to order my coronet, but I might return it and still get the vielight if I have to

I'm not surprised that you couldn't find this comparison. They are both pretty expensive, so it is unlikely that anyone has bought both.

What we really need is a clinical trial to compare them! 🙂

Haha. I have both

Okay, but you can't stop there! You have to give us a comparison.

I bought the Vielight Gamma in 2019 . There was some improvement in sense of smell after 12 weeks of use but it did not improve beyond that. The Vielight has a head piece with 4 light points and a intranasal clip, shining on top of the head. The first point was 1 cm from the hairline and the other 3 a little further back.

We were not so diligent using it after awhile because his sense of smell was not fully restored and we gave up.

In May this year, we ordered the Coronet Duo after reading about JIm’s progress. The Coronet Duo has many light points that shine all over the head. Catherine mentioned that the important part was the back of the head. I felt comforted that no part of the brain would be missed out. My husband experienced an amazing change together with the probiotic PS 128. I would be using both simultaneously since I cannot exclude either for this improvement.

Do you know how the PS 128 helped? I tried it and it made my tremor worse.

Millbrook profile image
Millbrook in reply to laglag

It says on the back of the box that Psychobiotic PS 128 can significantly ameliorate anxiety, depression like behaviours, increase dopaminergic activity in the brain and reduce stress induced elevation of serum corticosterone and inflammatory cytokine levels .

It also has K21 which can modulate immune responses in order to restore or prevent metabolic disorders caused by chronic inflammation.

My husband always had gut issues. With PS 128 within 10 days of consuming it he had vast improvement in balance, driving and mental alertness. He had only been using Coronet Duo for 4 1/2 weeks. He moved slowly but did not have tremor. Instead of taking 2 sachets at bedtime try spacing it out like one early in the morning and another just before bed. In the Taiwanese clinical trial they used 2 sachets at bedtime. But the agent here just said take 2-3 sachets a day 1 hour after food or on empty stomach.

I did mention that my husband was using Coronet Duo and probiotic PS 128 simultaneously.

He is not on any PD meds other than B1 and Niacin, ubiquinol . Are you on any meds? Is there a possibility that with the PS 128 and your meds you are having too much of something that has aggravated your tremor because PS 128 increases dopaminergic activity in the brain. You can email the company for support. Wishing you the best outcome .

Thanks for all the information and suggestions! Did you purchase it from Solace? I don't believe my box says K21. I've been thinking of trying the Coronet. Thanks

I purchased the product from here

It’s psychobiotic PS128 plus K21

Hi Millbrook, have you tried the Neuralli/Bened Life PS128? I've been taking for a couple months, but it is insanely expensive. It seems like you're happy with the psychobiotic your husband is taking....

Millbrook in reply to beatles4ever

Hi Beatles,

My husband experienced a miraculous turn around when he simultaneously took PS 128 and did the coronet duo. At that point he had been taking PS 128 just 2 weeks and using coronet duo 4 weeks. Before that his immediate issues were balance, veering sideways when driving, spatial judgment, slowness.

I also made yoghurt to get more of it but he did not like yoghurt and we subsequently discovered that he is intolerant to gluten, dairy and most nut milks with the exception of camel milk which I had never heard of until then.

Where are you from ? In Asia you can buy it at a better price but the shipping can be problematic. Another member from Australia ordered it from a store and got them to ship it out of the boxes so that the package could contain a lot more. He said it helped his wife greatly.

There is another member who recently posted that her husband ( I can’t recall the name at the moment) better than 3 years ago and another Jack Aubrey who wrote a long factual account of how it helped his wife.

Read the threads on PS128 and you can get more information. But do persevere for at least 6 months . Some found that it was not for them whilst it helped others greatly. It really does something to the microbiome .

Wishing you excellent outcomes.

I don't believe it's my meds but it might be. I am definitely worse for about a week after I take any probiotic??I take 6-7 C/L and 2 Gocovri and 1 Lexapro.

Millbrook profile image
Millbrook in reply to KERRINGTON

He is on the flushing niacin. He gets 100 mg from his B complex and another additional 125 mg flushing niacin. I have solgar 250 mg niacin and I break it into half to add to his dose.

I read a book written by Ari Whitten, "Red Light Therapy" and he said if you are wanting to use it primarily for your brain then the Vielight is the best option. He states that near- infrared is superior to infrared because it gets through the skull more effectively, specifically for the brain. He also said they make a product called Vielight Neuro which is a much higher power device with multiple white points around the skull. It can be placed to admit like through the hair follicles directly on the skin so that hair doesn't block the light. The Vielight Neuro may very well be the best product for treating the brain specifically we don't know for sure as there are no studies comparing it to LED lights but it looks to be a great product.

No it doesn't but if you are going to use one I recommend buying it, There is a lot of good info in the book ón how they work, the proper timing, placement etc.

Thanks.

I note from your Amazon link that the book's publication date is given as July 2018. Maybe the Coronet Duo was not yet available at that point in time.

Hello Jeff

About 2 months ago you said you have been using the Coronet duo since October 2020 and you haven't noticed any difference to your symptoms good or bad

Is that still the same or have you noticed some improvements?

jeffreyn profile image
jeffreyn in reply to Grumpy77

I bought a Well Red TheraPad about that time (i.e. about 2 months ago), and have been using it on my abdomen during my twice-daily sessions with the Coronet Duo. Since then, I have noticed improvements with my tremor and my general happiness. I tend to associate these improvements with the TheraPad, but it could be that it is the combination of the 2 products that is causing these improvements.

That's great news, thank you for that feedback

Hello Jeff

I know it's early days and improvements is still progressing but how much % do you feel your tremor has improved so far?

Thank you

jeffreyn profile image
jeffreyn in reply to Grumpy77

It is hard to be precise because I have not kept a written record, but it is noticeable. Some days I don't seem to have any tremor at all. Other days I have just an internal tremor (i.e. I can sometimes feel a tremor but it's not visible). Other days there is a mild tremor now and then, but it does not bother me. Stress still brings on the tremor, but it's a weaker tremor than before.

There was some research done recently in Australia, which was described in an article in The Australian newspaper on infrared and near infrared light. I wanted to send it to a couple of friends, but only had it in hard copy and couldn’t get it on line. Catherine from Wellred emailed it to me , with some comments. She would no doubt send it to you.

My husband’s neurologist said that the researchers are well regarded. He also said that some of his patients have used the coronet with very good results.

I hope this helps. I will report on our experience in time.

If you've read any of my posts... you know that I've been skeptical of the cheap (under $500) red light/ PMB devices to treat PD.

However... I'm reading good things about Vielight:

DISCLAIMER: I have nothing to do with this company.

DISCLAIMER: Almost a year ago I posted here about Vielight. As I recall, I only got a few replies and one person wanted to SELL his Vielight to me. So I am not vouching for this product.

That said... check this out:

neurologicwellnessinstitute...

neurologicwellnessinstitute...

They have a clinic in Chicago and another in Boca Raton, Florida

Neither of those locations are close to me.

I'm going to do further research on who might offer this type of therapy in my area.

I used a vielight for 5 years but recently changed to the Coronet in order to get both red light and near infrared light. That is the light combination that i see recommended most often for PD. None of the vielight products have that combination

Hello, what are your thoughts now on the Coronet?

trying to decide which to buy for a family member

Terlin profile image
Terlin

Good morning, what did you eventually decide on and are you seeing improvement ?

Grumpy77 profile image
Grumpy77 in reply to Terlin

Hello Terlin, firstly I have to say that I can only talk about the Duo Coronet because I've got zero use of the Vielight. Also for you to have a proper objective assessment review of the devices, I think you should ask many more people who have used these devices (not just one or two)On the actual review... firstly I to say I have not been completely consistent in using the coronet strictly twice every day as prescribed due to the distraction of so many other things I have to do

So my assessment of the coronet is that I don't feel its doing much for my tremors but I feel it reduces my anxiety (I'm much calmer), it also help for better sleep, increases my hair growth 😅 and I feel less stressed. But I also have to say that when you're taking or doing so much your pd, one may be erroneous in singling one thing

So please ask many more people before you come to your conclusion

Hi, received a notice about your recent question. I was diagnosed with very early PD in 2016. I used a Vielight infrared light product with an intranasal attachment from 2018 to early 2023. It was very easy and convenient to use, very well constructed and the nasal piece was comfortable. However over the years I became aware that it would be better to have a device with both red and infrared light so I switched to the Coronet early this year. I can't say that I notice much change re my PD symptoms. My PD symptoms have not improved since diagnosis, but have not advanced as quickly as they would have been expected to, so much so that people are not aware of my diagnosis unless I tell them. I like the Coronet in that it gives very good coverage to the whole head especially the lower back of the head which was not included in the Vielight coverage but is important for persons with PD. The Coronet is light weight and comfortable. I bought a Coronase (the matching intranasal attachment) at the same time but it was uncomfortable and fell out of my nose constantly. It had no little clip attachment like the intranasal piece on the Vielight. Within 3 months of use, it actually broke apart and I submitted a complaint to Dr Hamilton. She said her engineer is working on an improved design and they will replace the Coronase at no cost when they have a new product. I actually sent them a photo of the intranasal piece on the Vielight so they would see an example of a well designed one.
