Dementia?

One neuro says I have problems with executive function. Just a few days ago another neuro says I'm too slow to respond to test questions for driving and should give up my license. Even had me sign sign something that I didn't read. Comments?

Why would you sign something you didn’t read?

Not a good answer but...I'm a baby boomer. We were taught to respect authority. When told to sign something, we did so without question. It's why so many of us were lost to Viet Nam. Also after a solid year of doctor visits I go into a fugue state. I'm just tired of constant bad news. My wife has to take over getting scripts filled, etc.

It was a fine answer. I’m a boomer too. What’s Nam have to do with it? Question everything.🤔

"What’s Nam have to do with it?" Because of The Draft. You had no choice unless you wanted to leave the country.

I went to college, a planned and useful endeavor.

Not if you BARELY graduated from high school. The draft would have me as cannon fodder.

Did you have to serve?

No, the war end before I finished high school. But it was close. I remember reading an article about the last man drafted for Viet Nam. He never made it out of the Ft Dix motor pool. His birthday was a few weeks earlier than mine.

Kay,

Executive Function decline is a non-motor symptom. All PwP experience it and it's not necessarily dementia.

Loosing a drivers license is difficult to accept, it means freedom and self reliance. You will get used to it like every other indignity you have been subjected to by PD.

The old lady said that she had her foot on the brake and the brakes did not work, but all the other people that were inside the drug store that she hit said the engine was screaming as the car came through the front window.

There comes a time.

Here is a reasonable discussion of driving privileges.

In my mind dementia means demented. Webster's even uses them as synonyms.
