Help! How can I put on weight?

I'm a PWP, no meds except Apixaban for heart, vigorous hand tremor at times which I believe uses lots of energy. I eat like a horse (? horse!!) but am only just maintaining 50 kilos at 5 feet six. I was 53k last September. Very good diet, loads of veg, no junk food, healthy carbs. Does anyone else have this problem?

Strong shaking may be a good explanation for weight loss in Pwp's. High dose thiamine, including TTFD, is supposed to help in this regard.

Hormonesmatter.com is a fascinating website - I've never heard of thiamine transporters and now wonder if some of us don't respond to thiamine due to the lack of these transporters. Also, very interesting is that Lipothiamine doesn't need them. Thanks for sharing!

I personally don't have any problems keeping weight on, but try this smoothie every day to pack on the pounds...Whole milk or almond milk

Cold pasteurized grass fed whey protein isolate

Mixed berries

Banana

You can also add

Yogurt, ice cream, Chocolate syrup,, cocoa powder, peanut butter , Nutella, m&ms or oreos

I drink that basic smoothie every day and I can attest to packing on the pounds although I don’t need them at all!

I put some of my supplements in there (Mucuna, MCT oil, flaxseed, arginine and carnitine), . I also add honey, peanut butter, blueberries and I use water instead of milk. It’s the only way I can get the Mucuna down...nasty taste. 😖

All the very best!!

I know whatcha mean! Milk = Phlegm! dairy=inflamation, so thats why I recommend almond milk, a lthough whohe cow milk will certainly increase weight gain potential, if youre ok with dairy. One important thing is that whey protien isolate, although it is derived from cow milk, does not contain very much, if any, lactose.

other nutritious things you can add to the smoothie are spinach and or kale.

Lots of Almond milk about, never realised what some have in them, some have the dangerous sunflower oil, for what reason I know not why. I use in the UK

Very good advice - not so easy for women I think. I'll get some weights.

My husband does not have PD but does have trouble keeping weight on (even though I try to keep him supplied with gluten free brownies, corn bread, hummus, almond butter, tortilla chips, nuts, etc.). He noticed he put on weight after I started putting collagen peptides in his coffee; just 1 scoop (instructions say 2). He does some form of exercise every day, usually weight training and pilates once a week each.

Here's a study that found similar results - only on men unfortunately:
