I gave read a lot on dyskinesia but still some confusion and fear it’s coming. Can you tell me what experience you have with dyskinesia, symptoms, when started and mostly how to prevent.

Above is a description of dyskynesia and dystonia - the two side effects of Levodopa that I experience on occasion and somewhat akin to what @juliegrace mentioned, I experienced both from day one.

My advice - don't stress about something that may or may not happen to you. Its all a matter of perspective. As time goes by you will learn to gracefully accept what comes your way.

The film 'awakenings' with Robin Williams and Robert Denero shows dykenesia as a result of taking levadopa. Very good acting. The addition of carbadopa in sinemet means that you dont need to take as much levadopa to get the desired benefits.

@gingerj, good example of fiction gives rise to reality. I have heard of this movie, but have not seen it yet. Isn’t it an irony that Robin Williams got diagnosed with Parkinson’s later.

This is not the only example. “Superman” Christopher Reeves starred in a movie where he played a role in the wheelchair and as we all know how he pretty much ended up.

Sometimes these things convince you that there’s a higher power!

My husband found some dyskinesia appeared after about 4 years on Madopar if he slightly altered the dose to half doses more frequently that did improve it but remembering to take them so frequently was difficult.

Instead of increasing dosage of Madopar he was given Rasagaline this gave some increased dyskinesia at first, then added in Amantadine which did really lessen the dyskinesia and he has been pretty ok with these meds.

Has now been able to decrease Madopar.
