NADH Side Effects

I started taking NADH about a week ago. Instead of feeling better, I notice extreme fatigue, nausea and sleepiness but at the same time I have trouble sleeping. Has anyone else experienced these side effects?

I have not taken NADH, but I am curious as to why you took it. What did you think it would do? 🐣

Hello,

I had read that Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NADH is the active form of vitamin B3 in the body and effectively raises the level of dopamine in the brain, making it potentially useful in the treatment of people with Parkinson's disease and that in preliminary research, NADH supplementation could reduce symptoms and improved brain function in people with Parkinson's disease

First off, NADH is not a form of B3. It is in fact the end product of Vitamin B3 synthesis. It is a molecule that occurs naturally in the body and plays a role in the chemical process that generates energy.

The three forms of B3 are - nicotinamide (niacinamide), niacin (nicotinic acid), and nicotinamide riboside. And yes all three forms of vitamin B3 are converted within the body to nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD). NADH - the supplement you are taking - is the NAD molecule with an added hydrogen atom.

So you are trying to supplement with an end product molecule which is one part of a dynamic energy ratio: NAD turns into NADH, which turns back into NAD.

Your body evidently objects to this interference with “extreme fatigue, nausea and sleepiness...”

I believe you would have discontinued this intake by now. Seeing it does not agree with you, do throw this supplement in the trash.

Niacin is by far the better molecule to supplement with. I would suggest a no-flush version between 250mg and 500mg. Product I use here. No-flush Niacin is coupled in this product with B2

And here is a case study of Niacin use, with improvements in motor, cognitive, and sleep measures.

Definitely B3 niacin flush type (low dose) is something that in my opinion makes a difference on some symptoms in a couple of weeks and coupled with all the other vitamins and minerals. (b complex, E, C, D magnesium and multimineral etc., low dose., discontinuous).

I have seen the difference in a matter of weeks with my spouse: currently using x-tended release Niacin 500mg. (Need to use right after meals or there is some flush)

So I think both work. And of course you need to ensure there are no nutritional gaps 🌺
