I have difficulty walking but can jog just fine. Also I have hand tremors at rest sometimes but if I change the position of my hand they go away. Also I have trouble cutting my food with a knife and even brushing my teeth.
Yes I have trouble walking but sometimes I can run I have no Tremor most of the time but sometimes I have a tremor in my jaw or at night , when I’m trying to sleep! My body gets into a very weird posture when I try to brush my teeth and I have to try to train my hands to hold my brush differently For a more successful brushing technique!!
My dominant arm gets fatigued while brushing my teeth. So I switch to the other arm. No problems cutting my food with a knife. The arm tremor is constant but I'm not always bothered by it. In public I hold the tremoring hand with my other hand.
Yes. PD is weird. When i run i have a lovely arm swing when walkiing not so. Can take dog for 2 mile walk but hv trouble negotiating the gate. Get tremoor in r arm when having conversation. Brain can't cope with lots of tasks at once. It just is what it is. I adjust n don't worry about it.
Sounds very typical of PD. There are all kinds of weird brain hacks. Try having someone through you a juggling ball when you aren't expecting it and the hand quickly catches it but try to throw it back and it's a different story.
I found that we have problems with all movements we make, which we learned as small children. Such as bringing food to our mouths; walking; riding a bike; speaking; writing; and everything else we do without having to think about what our legs and arms are doing.
Therefore,if you are able to use your conscious brain to control each action, there is no problem. I found that if I held my fork at a different angle, it worked, If I wrote differently, like in block letters, it worked, I had to use an electric toothbrush because there was no way I could brush properly.
If you want to know lots of ways of solving other problems, Google my name, John Pepper, and contact me. I will send you videos and a whole lot of information, free of charge. There are lots of things we can do to overcome many of our symptoms.
I am interested. I am experiencing some of the same problems. Can't cut ,difficulty using utensils with my right hand. I brush my teeth with my left hand and my right hand tremors. The same thing happens if I take a drink of water or eat something with my left hand. I can only sit for short periods of time without my quadriceps cramping and my big toe raising and my 3 middle toes curling..so I spend the majority of the day with standing or laying down. I can play pickleball relatively well but the strength in my right hand is weak. I am able to switch hands. I have difficulty getting out of my car,but can operate gas and brake ok.tremors varysometimes my right leg freezes and I have to move it with my hands. Difficulty getting out of bed and off the toilet. I sleep pretty well. Looking for help and suggestions. Neurologists describe a me as parkinsonism .Nutritionist/pharmacist, muscle therapist and chiropractor think passing stroke. Symptoms started in 2016major stress. I am trying supplements and high b1..I did about 30 glutathione iv s and 30 acupuncture treatments in 2018.i bought a dry infrared sauna. My right side is weak and my gait is a little off. I appreciate your help.
Dear Smittybear7 - By any chance do you have a family history of type 2 diabetes? I do and a few weeks ago I gave up sugar, gluten and carbs. Trying a low glycemic index diet. Also exercising by doing sprints and riding stationary bike for 20-30 minutes. I am starting to feel better. You may want to give it a try if possible. Sugar is killing us slowly. It’s everywhere.
Sugar is my weakness. No diabetes in my family. I can't run very fast and don't have a stationary bike. When I did pt they had to tape my right foot to keep it on the pedal. I appreciate your suggestions and am going to try to cut the sugar and carbs. Thanks
Good Morning. My name is John Pepper. My Pd symptoms started in 1963. I was only diagnosed with Pd in 1992 and put onto Pd medication. By 2002 , because of all the actions taken subsequent to my diagnosis, I was able to come off my Pd medication and have lived a normal life since then. I am now 86 years old and have helped a lot of people deal with many of their Pd movement symptoms.
If you Google my name and make contact with me, I will send you my videos and lots of information as to how I went about doing this, I do not charge anything for this service.
The curling of your toes sounds like Dystonia. Just check with your Neuro.
Somebody is trying to make it impossible to get hold of me. If you Google John Pepper South Africa, and look down the page and you will see my email address, reverseparkinsons.net. Good luck
Yes have that occur, and that is common, you just have to either plow through it with a little concentration or try to ignore it and plot through it without the concentration, either works fine while you are in early stages...a bit like opening a sticky door.
It’s a weird illness. At night I can’t push my arms smoothly. They move in jerks.Try singing marching tunes when you can’t do something. The rhythm seems to help which I think is why jogging is better than walking!
