I never trusted depending on a mask to protect me from a virus and read about hospital workers still catching it with a PPE mask .My sons friend stepfather caught it at work from his co-worker even though they wore their mask and even told my don he think his family may have it because they were all in the yard with him with a mask on celebrating .For years l have been diffusing essential oils, applying some diluted on the sole of my feet and eating foods to keep my immune system strong because l refuse to go to sick houses aka hospitals.I also eat cherries for melatonin, raw buckwheat honey (but only the amber colored type since the darker one gives me gas )or zinc, medicinal mushrooms and goat milk for vitamin D etc..

Masks are NOT 100% effective. It is a barrier and has saved millions of lives throughout the years of surgeries, at the very least. We take what we've got.

It's sad the way people act today and l swear and since the coronavirus it has gotten worse 😆.I lost a few relatives to coronavirus and its painful knowing that. l am not saying do not wear a mask I'm saying you should not depend on a facemask to stop this virus alone. My state is on lockdown once again because of this so called spike but if a mask stop coronavirus why close pharmacies, grocery stores etc..at 8 pm? its like there is a set time that coronavirus comes out 😆anyway be safe

beehive23 in reply to Baldy70

im pretty certain we all know now that a mask is not equivalent to a level 3 containment...........were dying.............

At first I thought curfews are silly, but then again they have found more severe illness in shift workers. Having your circadian rhythm messed up by shift work is probably bad for the immune system, but then it may also be possible that exposure could be worse at certain times of the day as the activity of immune cells changes over the course of the day. So perhaps curfews reduce the number of severe infections; hopefully some epidemiologist will study the effects of curfews.

i can tell you the effects of covid on pd symptoms...........

Baldy70 profile image
Baldy70 in reply to Rhyothemis

If the pharmacies, gas stations, supermarkets etc..have to close at 8 pm then how come the liquor store does not have to close until 10 pm,it's not adding up? and l believe that the spike in cases is not accurate, billionaire Elton Musk said he was tested with a rapid antigen test, which authorities have warned has a higher chance of delivering false negatives. He tweeted: "Something extremely bogus is going on. Was tested for Covid four times today. Two tests came back negative, two came back positive. Same machine, same test, same nurse."He is also awaiting the results from two PCR tests, although these will take 24 hours to be delivered.....l am not surprised at this because I have a cousin that lives in Texas and her friend made an appointment to get tested and on the day he went to get tested he left before getting tested and still got a call days later saying he was positive....Singer Erika Badu took a test at home and tested positive in one nostril and negative in the other...77 NFL players had a false positive.A Boston lab suspended testing for cov after too many false positives.I see this online everyday...But anyway its time to for me to drink my cherry juice (vitamin c) and eat my medicinal mushrooms ( vitamin D)..be safe

in reply to Baldy70

For every false positive case, there's probably 100 cases that havent been tested. The probability that COVID19 case numbers are being over-reported in the USA due to inaccurate testing (or any other factor) is zero percent. Zero.

i dont know ..... all i can do is wear aa mask i wont go to hospital and this is day 8 for me and its vicious absolutely horrible. as long as wearing a msask is a prophylactic and cheap and not in pill form i dio it....i owe it to my kids.....cheers

i believe since weve only seen the covid virus for just under a year that noone sho;ld have high expectations about perfect unproven tests being flooded on market for $ and same for vsaccine....too fast to iron out the junk but i dont write policy i just talk to me senators and congressman...cheers

If you have PD I would be wary of cherry juice as it lowers uric acid levels. Vitamin C can be found in abundance in bell peppers, broccoli, etc.:

Ok l use Guru Nanda frankincense essential oil since it does not smell like gasoline 😆 plus research the benefits of goats milk,if you can drink it do not drive at night because it can make you sleepy especially if it's warm...be safe

Rhyothemis profile image
Rhyothemis in reply to beehive23

If you like essential oils you may want to look into Hinoki cypress or balsam fir as they contain alpha pinene - a main component of phytoncides; there is some evidence for benefit of phytoncide inhalation on immune function:

excellant ! ive beeen using myhrr oil and burning it, dragons blood to keep house sterile and i use lemon oil for anxiety ill try the balsam etc......very much appreciated! cheers!

Rhyothemis profile image
Rhyothemis in reply to beehive23

I hope it helps; frankinsence apparently does have alpha pinene in it so it may do as well.

If you like functional foods you could try wakame ; hopefully you have someone helping you with cooking. It contains fucoidan which was found to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 replication in vitro (of course it is knot known yet if it works in people). Fucoidan can also help prevent development of autoimmunity ; there's potential for auto-antibody generation in covid - particularly anti-phospholipid antibodies.

Fucoidan from wakame helps prevent clotting without prolonging bleed time.pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/220...

Fucoidan has also been found to prevent mitochondrial damage in mouse models of PD - though this type of finding does not often seem to translate to humans; also Japan has the same rate of PD as elsewhere (though the sex ratio is flipped for some unknown reason). So I don't really expect much benefit for PD.

Downside: potential for contamination with heavy metals, radioactive isotopes (e.g. Cs-137, half life of 30 years).

I also hope you have a primary care doctor or nurse practitioner you can consult -if so, you may want to ask them about famotidine (Pepcid). I don't know what the current consensus is on whether it actually helps or not.

Hi, hope you are okay. I wanted to make a correction - I should have mentioned possible downsides of seaweed consumption - heavy metals and radioactive isotopes, especially Cesium-137 (long half-life). I'm re-considering my wakame consumption- which is unfortunate since I think it was helping me with inflammation & mood.

beehive23 profile image
beehive23 in reply to Rhyothemis

well ive been harvesting and eating alaskan seaweed by the ton for years but it tested free of heavy metals etc...cheers for thinking of that.

in reply to Rhyothemis

I think curfews are simply a practical curb on unnecessary socialising, and are as close to a legal total lockdown as will be tolerated, particularly in the USA.
