Sense of Smell for Covid Patient Restored By Shot . Could it Also Work for PD?

I fully admit that I'm grasping at straws, but I keep hoping treatment of long term Covid-19 symptoms may also lead to treatment of PD symptoms and/or the underlying causes of PD. Unlikely, I admit, but amazing medical advances sometimes come about by accident.

You got me Googling: Long-term Results of Stellate Ganglion Block in Patients with Olfactory Dysfunction 2017 epain.org/journal/view.html...

Search the page for Stellate: The process of Lewy body formation, rather than simply α-synuclein fibrillization, is one of the major drivers of neurodegeneration pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.1...

This is interesting. Seems like a low risk Hail Mary. Search on Stellate again: Heart–Brain Axis ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161...

Thanks for all the follow up searches, Bolt! It's still very much a hail Mary, but you have given me a lot more reason to consider a stellate ganglion block.

Considering that there are some people that have suggested that some long term Covid actually IS PD, it seems that floating this idea with some of the doctors might be a worthy idea. Plant a few seeds.

The patient got a stellate ganglion shot. Perhaps it calmed the immune system. When Trump got covid his doctor gave him a shot of dexamethasone, a potent steroid and he recovered quickly. I used dexamethasone often in my vet practice. In school we were told to avoid using steroids because they can suppress the immune system. But the right dose can augment the immune system and speed healing. I used it in viral infections for 35 years.
