Wife still alive but doesn't get "it". Whether she is in denial , doesn't care , I don't know. She has never been with me to hospital appointments, including MRI, and when I got my diagnosis. When I told everyone I had PD she was the only one that didn't give me a hug, including bar staff in my local pub. If I say I have another symptom of PD i.e. loss of balance, loss of smell etc, "it's old age" .
