Dad's Garden

Dad was diagnosed with PD about 6 years ago at the age of 80. He'd probably been diagnosable for 3 years before that (loss of smell, bradykinesia). At the end of 2018 the Queen sent them a telegram for their diamond wedding anniversary and they moved out of the home they had lived in all my life to their new bungalow. And Dad was admitted for bowel cancer surgery, which went wrong and nearly died. His ambition (when lucid) and our ambition was to get him home so he could sit in his garden. In fact, with a frame, pauses for freezing, and lots of patience, and some raised beds built by my brother, he has gone one better, and is gardening again

Dad hasn't had a genetic test, and I have no access to my trial test results

Getting a genetic test for me is on the "to do list" (like far too many things )

Yeah!! I'm so excited for him (and for all y'all) since I myself understand the love of gardening and we are unable to do so now that my husband has been diagnosed and we've had to sell our property and move to Arizona to live in an RV in a campground. One of my husband's worst symptoms is bradykinesia. May God continue to bless your dad!

Beautiful flowering, I have always thought that gardening, having to do with the idea that plants grow, is an excellent stimulus and motivation as well as a pleasure for the elderly. We could say that gardening extends life but please don't ask me for a scientific study. 😜

PS the camellia in the center is an acidophilic and wants a very acidic soil otherwise it will turn the leaves yellow.Professional deviation.
