Body Weight Has Surprising and Alarming Impact on Brain Function - 2020. Neuroscience News.
Summary: Obesity and higher body mass are linked to decreased cerebral blood flow. Lower cerebral blood flow is associated with an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease and a range of psychiatric disorders.
I didn't see any indication that they considered exercise as the cause of the dependencies. Exercise will increase blood flow to the brain, and in the overweight (no underweight) cases will decrease body mass (decreases fat, increases muscle). Except for here:
Quote: Although the results of this study are deeply concerning, there is hope. Dr. Amen added, “One of the most important lessons we have learned through 30 years of performing functional brain imaging studies is that brains can be improved when you put them in a healing environment by adopting brain-healthy habits, such as a healthy calorie-smart diet and regular exercise.”
There is a lot that doctors ignore or simply not know. I am a researcher and Imbelieve in e erciae making you well an hole. I have just been thru covid19 in my 4th week it is still not letting up completely. Although I was in bed most of the time, the tiredness is overwhelming, Each time my lungs were grabbed and squeezed by some "thing" in my body, I got up and exercised. I saved myslf several times from going to the ER. My oxygen level is 98 but I am still fighting breathless, but I also have COPD so I am used to not breathing well some days.
We have also taken 400 mg of Ibuprofin which fights inflammation. Today I am reading that some doctors highly recommend anti inflammatory medication and praise Hydroxichloroquine. These people or certain people in Washington are playing their political game. Disgusting when it comes to life or death. I hope I can help somebody with this report.
As sharoncrayn mentioned in previous posts correlation doesn't prove cause. In statistical terms a T tests does not show cause just correlation. Other knowledge is needed to show cause. We know exercise increases blood flow. What about the football player whose muscles cause him to measure obese on the weight versus height chart, but his body fat percentage is low? Is losing weight by diet as good as losing weight by exercise? What about the underweight person who gains weight by exercise? The above study leaves many open ended questions.
