So I got a bunch of symptoms following a head injury 2 yrs ago. Mainly autonomic problems, it a long story some Neurologist said could be early PD. The last one at Mayo said he 99% sure not PD or PD + disorder. I was ecstatic, but also thought, don't people have symptoms for years before diagnosis. I started with early dizziness and balance issue. Which my balance has gotten better. I still get dizzy at times not as bad as beginning. Urinary problems worst, which is not seen early in PD. I seem to be getting better with some symptoms, yet my mind my be tricking me a bit.. Although I did have neck pain and it low now.. Yet my joints are hurting a bit.
I was wondering if anyone on here takes niacin. Most stuff like caffeine, alcohol, and other supplements that made me feel good don't anymore. I don't even feel a buzz of alcohol. I don't have a tolerance cause I don't drink much anymore. Well I recently take Niacin and Beta alaine, and daily and feel pretty good for like 4 hours. It's even better if I run on them. I know i am all over the place but I believe it helping my brain.

I slipped in ice and hit my head. Plus had concussion playing football. Really didn't go to doctor until 3 mths after. I know pretty dumb, but I am a man. I am 44 years old, and had not one problem that affected me, before this. I exerciseed and have eaten fairly healthy. Yet unfortunately a lot of people with PD do the same. I was a bit of drinker on weekends, but have stopped. Guess my one vice was dr I had symptoms almost instantly. The main ones came at 2 mths after. Then more about 6 mths later. Some seem to be better like pain and balance. Yet i few gotten a worse. I have postural finger tremors, but no other movement problems. My problems are autonomic. Just trying to get answers. Problem with brain is it doesn't heal well, and doctors still know very little about. I realize it is a very complexed organ.
Ok. This is not parkinsons, is some sort of traumatic brain injury, and if you respect your head then it might improve over time. Take a good multiple vitamin daily when you have a meal that contains fat, making sure that the vitamin contains some zinc, and some copper as part of it. Take additional B-complex vitamins any time. Do these religiously for the rest of your life. Avoid alcohol entirely. Monitor and control your diet for things that might contain heavy metals and high amounts of pesticides, especially those containing chlorine molecules (except table salt, don't worry about that), i.e., educate yourself well and make education your habit. Do nothing to excess.
See a real neurologist, ASAP...possibility you have a lower brain and brain-stem trauma (neighborhood of the cerebellum and center area in the brain, center of the head, lower down), but everything is connected and knowing where it comes from may not make any practical difference whatever in recovering...if you had an internal bleed or mini stroke (s), which you might show up on a couple different brain scans, then maybe that is something that can be treated, so do ask about that.
Important to know if you have any vascular/blood pressure problems. For all of the above, it is not beyond possible to develop seizures and vision problems as well. While you are at it, get your blood sugar checked out.
If you sleep ok, great. If not, get that seen and figured out, you need your sleep and your deep slow wave sleep.
If you do these things religiously, who knows, you might improve. If you don't, you do run some risk of really fu**ing yourself up for life down the road.
I appreciate ur feedback and I do take vitamins that seem to help a little. Magnesium complex, Antioxidants, ALCAR, Lions Maine, NAC and others. I rarely drink, but i may just stop completely. I did have MRI which showed slight shrinkage of cerebellum but Mayo Neurologist said it was not significant. It just seems music and other things that used to excite me don't, my libido is low and having male issues. I never had before. This what lead me to think dopamine problem. I heard if u mess up that system there no going back. Well, I staying postive and I will take ur advice.
So see a psychiatrist for these last things you mention, all of these lsst things are not a big feature of neurology expertise...because a neurologist is not trained for these last things you mention.
I agree totally with MarionP. You dont have Parkinsons. Your symptoms dont fit and dizziness and balance issues do not suggest PD. You most likely have a traumatic brain injury .
