Is it too late?

Diagnosed with MS three years ago then last year with PD. The photo is Pikes Peak taken 6 hours ago. I've completed the Pikes Peak Marathon 10 times. My average marathon finish time is 4 hours. For Pikes Peak I average 7 hours. Which is respectable for any race that's over 14,000ft.

I wonder when it's too late to lose the weight and race again.

So sorry to hear about the double diagnosis and I can’t even pretend to understand the difficulties of combining both sets of symptoms but I can answer from a PD pov and that’s a resounding it’s never too late to try.

I’m 55 .. 7 years diagnosed and am doing the delayed Etape du Tour which this year is 177km bike ride over 3 mountain passes in a day.

Now granted I’m absolutely useless and will undoubtably finish last but I’ll get it done and the benefits of necessary training (on ones mental and physical self) vastly outweighs any difficulty along the way......

Hope that helps and good luck

Have you heard of Dr Terry Wahls of the Wahls Protocol? She was in a wheelchair with her MS diagnosis and developed an eating plan and is now back to biking and being active again. The highest level is very similar to Keto.

I admire you. Do you run regularly? If so how much?

Do you know that fast walking can reverse the symptoms of Pd?

I have been able to overcome most of my Pd problems and have been Pd-medication-free since 2002. I have Had Pd symptoms since 1963.

It is possible that marathon running can do the same. I would like to discuss it with you. If you look me up on Google you should find my website or even my email.

Thanks for all the replies. I was told it could take 3 months or more to get over the Achilles surgery I had one month ago. In three weeks I travel to our new retirement home in Worcester, MA. My wife is already there. She's been scouting bike trails and I'm hoping biking will be possible if running isn't. For now eccentric heel lifts is about all I can do.
