Seems that Melatonin (an anti oxidant and anti inflammation agent) helps with the problem of frequent urination at night (Nocturia). It is well known that Melatonin regulates the sleep cycle.
Some time back read that those with PD are lacking in Melatonin that is naturally produced by the body. The expert suggested that typical PD patients do not see any benefit from the usual supplementation of 3 mg to 5 mg dose, but that it has to be close to 10 mg (some video on you tube). There is also some info on the net that it reduces some of the typical PD symptoms.

Thank you for posting this. My husband's doc encouraged him to try Melatonin, high dosing, like 10 to 20 mg once a day before bed. I believe I've heard that cancer therapy even is as high as 40 mg. He has not decided to try it yet but he might soon. I'll share with him what you are thinking about night time urination. He has recently gotten some relief from that by taking Bladder Control Advantage from Dr. David Williams.
You are lucky that you have a doctor who is willing to listen to your concerns and then encourage you to try something other than what is a standard drug. I am sure your husband will find relief in a smaller dose of Melatonin (between 5 mg to 10 mg). Doing some research prior to talking to your doctor and being prepared to ask certain questions will go a long way in your effort to help your husband.
