Early morning Spasms

In recent weeks I have found that I can seize up with a few moments of very powerful spasm, especially in the legs. It’s worst when I wake up and get set to get out of bed.

I was diagnosed nearly a year ago.

Did you start exercising more than before? If that's the case (muscle cramps), magnesium and potassium help.

Whilst I have had mixed results with HDT (High Dose Thiamine) with it initially being wonderful then dropping off after about 6 months, the one thing I can categorically say is that it fixed my lower leg cramps.

I was woken at least once a night by calf cramps in one leg or the other for about 7 years. Within about a week of starting HDT they stopped and apart from the occasional one (maybe every 2-3 months at most) they haven't returned. This is over 2 years virtually cramp free.

I currently only take 500mg Thiamine daily and mostly for the calf cramps

I bet you are young onset. Unfortunately it hits young onset hardest. Do you take levadopa? It can help, long acting in particular. Also make sure your iron levels are ok.

Actually I am 71 years old. Most mornings I have a sudden body spasm. Legs especially.
