Hi! I found on this forum a recipe of Ayurveda with garlic, from 1 to 21 cloves of garlic, every day increasing by 1 clove. Everything was fine, my gait even improved, but on day 16 my stomach ached and I stopped. Someone tried it too? How to protect the stomach from garlic? I would like to repeat this treatment.

Garlic cloves are a "hot herb", meaning that it can burn the skin if cut and taped to the skin for hours. I'm not sure it is possible to take that many raw garlic cloves without getting an upset stomach or worse. Plus if you could take that many cloves at once, everyone around you would be "completely aware" of it!

I got some garlic from the local farmer's market and had them raw , (chewed 3 to 4 cloves) and my mouth was on FIRE, my nose and eyes were all dripping. Unique experience for sure. The store bought never had such an effect before. Not sure if I want to give even one clove to my mother.

An old remedy for a toothache has been to cut a garlic clove and place it between the gum and the affected tooth, but people report that this exposure is enough to create a sore/burn in the mouth. Garlic is a potent antibacterial, but people should be aware that it also has the potential to burn!

Lots of people use ordinary cloves (the spice used in apple dishes) for dental pain. Some dental surgeries here in South Africa smell of oil of cloves.

Yes, but 16 cloves all at once swallowed is very likely to cause a problem for most people. I love garlic, but 16 cloves swallowed at once?

I think I haven't explained properly, Art, maybe because I live in a different part of the world. With the reference to toothache, I changed focus to a different kind of clove. The cloves I'm talking about now are not garlic at all but a spice used in baking desserts and in what we call biscuits and confectionery. Such cloves are small, hard and black and may be chewed but not swallowed; they are often ground and the result is a dark powder! Oh dear. I'm making heavy weather of this! It's 4 o'clock in the morning. Anyway, such cloves are often used for the relief of dental pain. 😀

M1tz1,

Oh yes, same here for clove. Very effective for a toothache. I believe the product is called OraGeI. I really like clove myself and clove contains some very useful components such as eugenol and gallic acid which is also found in ginger. Clove essential oil has one of the highest antioxidant levels compared to other essential oils and it has potent antimicrobial effects. Clove is one of my favorite essential oils and with certain topical applications, clove essential oil can act as a transdermal penetrant enhancer. I use the clove bits in cooking and barbecue sauces I make. It is also very good on honey seasoned ham. It is a wonderful spice and essential oil!

Thank you for adding to my appreciation of clove, Art. Glad you're back. Have a special day. 😊

You can poison yourself with anything. Man would that body ever stink, you would have to be cremated and even then the neighbour hood around the cremation facility would get suddenly hungry.

and mushrooms on fresh Italian bread, lightly toasted with some strong extra old cheddar on the side and a few green olives with those red things in the center. Eat it raw , if you want but it is better cooked.
