Living healthy with PD

I have been a patient of PD for last 2 years and my age today is 56.

My neurologist suggested me to take rasagellin 1 mg initially for 9 months and then prescribed pramirol SR 0.26 mg 3 tablets twice a day. He suggested me to run 5 KMs a day.

I am now taking rasagellin 1 mg one tablet and pramirol SR two tablets twice a day. I walk 5 KMs a day out of which running is 1 km. I do stretch exercise also. I take a glass of skimmed milk with protein , two bread piece with butter, water soaked almond, walnuts and raisins in the breakfast followed with ABC juice ( apple, beetroot and carrot juice.

In the lunch I take chapatis , rice , vegetable, salad , pulses and diluted curd with salt and roasted cumin seeds as I am a vegetarian.

Evening I eat seasonal fresh fruits and skip the dinner. Pramirol in the night with herbal supplement- Ashwagandha.

I write two pages daily to keep my handwriting and signature well.

Job is in between.

I am quite well and enjoy my life. The key to fight PD is as above supported by happiness. Spend time in fulfilling your hobbies. Make friends, keep yourself always busy and leave the rest to almighty to monitor. The things beyond your control should not be given much importance and to be left to god who is capable of handling issues which are beyond our area of influence.

Hey Merkk what are your symptoms that the above protocol alleviates? Sounds similar to mine however I still battle with tremors.

Tremors will remain throughout the life. Efforts to control tremors with medication will result in muscle stiffness.

The stress, anger and lack of confidence will alleviate tremors. Take deep breath if you come across such situations and calm yourself. Meditation and Quigong are the best remedies to control tremors.

MerckK, Thank you your success in your journey. I too am 56 and have been diagnosed for over 6 years and take Azilect, Cd/ld, Comtan . I run and lift weights , eat a healthy diet , no dairy. Work full time and do try to stay as positive as I can and I do know there are things out of my control and I am thankful for every day but I have to say I can have some pretty hard days and get very angry and tired of the pain and dealing with this disease. I am progressing and do everything I am supposed to for me to live a happy and successful life. Take care Karen

I too now have pain in my muscles but probably it is not that severe because my disease is not too old . I massage with sesame oil and spray volini and thus remain away from pain. No pain killers please till you can bear the pain with external applicants of pain killer.I am of the view that perhaps weight lifting is causing you pain. Pl try to avoid and switch to yoga for few days and observe.

Hi Karen. How do you know that you are progressing? It is generally suggested that the average Parkinson’s patient progresses very very slowly as in every 10 years or more. My doctor says that what we interpret as progression is actually the result of the medicine not working as effectively as before.
