Is a heavy feeling in one of your legs a symptom of Parkinson's or PSP ??

Hi, I am currently trying to wean myself off of C/L ( doctor approved), and I am experiencing a lot of brain fog, and my right leg feels ver tight making it challenging to put my heal down. My right leg also feels very heavy. I was wondering this is the real thing, ...what I will feel when I am drug free from C/L or are these symptoms from being on a low dose or, is it withdrawal symptoms. ??

Any insight would be appreciated

BTW I AM WEANING MYSELF OFF OF CL BECAUSE I AM NOT SURE IT IS DOING ANYTHING FOR ME. IT IS VVERY INCOSISTENT..

Thanks

Muscle tightness can be a symptom of being over- or under-medicated. Given what you have set forth I would take it as a symptom of being under-medicated.

Have you been taking immediate release or timed release C/L? Immediate release blood levels do fluctuate quite a bit.

Personally I regard C/L as essential - I am happy to reduce as my condition allows, but I avoid under-medication as I have found that to be detrimental.

Park_bear,

I am trying to see if the C/L is doing anything for me. I have been told by my dr. That it is probably that I have PSP. i have read that there is no medication used to treat it, but that some people may feel a benefit from it.

I am hoping to go off for a bit ( length of time - unsure) to confirm my need for C/L or that my body feels better off of it.

I freeze all day long and it is very frustrating. I THINK, but I could be wrong, that it may be one of my meds that is doing this.

So my thought was to eliminate each separately to make a conclusion.

I am on venlaxafine 75mg 1x per day

C_/L - was on 1.5 every 3 hours (4× per day)

Selegiline- 1 pill in morning

If this muscle tightness has arisen as a result of reducing your C/L, that would be a sign that the C/L is doing something for you. Consider increasing the C/L to see if the muscle tightness improves. If so that would confirm C/L effectiveness.

No, sorry. I have never had that. I've walked like Frankenstein but not in a mood.

It sounds similar to what I experience in my off phase. It is most noticeable when I am in bed.

As you go off Sinemet, you will experience stiffness all muscle rigidity. Your doctor would have gotten you a titration schedule. Without the schedule, you are playing with fire and can get a condition called Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome and people even die from that.

I have been following his titration schedule.

Do you have any idea of how long this feeling will last. ? When I am off the Sinemet / C/L will this heavy feeling continue? Thank you

If you have PD it will get worse when you are off of C/L

But my Dr think I probably have PSP. THATS why I am trying to get off of CL

I experience it when my C/L starts to wear off

My left leg stiffens and both legs feel achey when I need my next dose.

Sounds like the meds are helping you which is good really - better than PSP anyway.

I think the meds are affected by what else you have eaten and also virtually negated by stress.

I hope you find a solution.

my legs feel heavvy when meds wear off or at end of a hard day...c/l saved me from dragging it around all day long...now I walk much more naturally with the c/l.

You say the c/l is inconsistent. This could be due to timing of the dose around meals and what you are eating and how much. Protein will affect c/l absorption and is best restricted to the evening meal. Taking c/l about 1/2 hr before eating works much better than taking it after a meal. If you pay attention to your body and how you feel, youll eventually get it figured out. Also once you get the c/l worked out, try the thiamine protocol.
