My daughter started on 15mg but was too much so she’s been on 7.5 for a week then started Monday nite on 15 mg. Today she was so messed up......extreme tremors , neck rigid to the point of pain, could hardly move, confused, hard time breathing........I was scared for her..... called her Pd doc but didn’t hear back......hope this will Pass after a few days or so......I know your body has to get used to it but she is saying she doesn’t want to take it if that is the results. She has to get her anxiety under control or she’s not gonna beat Pd,.......

I had a bit of a crisis this time last year ....... anxiety, depression, insomnia, etc. and was prescribed Mirtazapine 30mg. I have been on it since and can only say that it has worked for me with no negative side-effects. Sleep is good and I am a lot calmer and accepting of my situation.
Has anyone tried the supplement called Ashwaganda for anxiety.
Wondering if it would be better than the SSRI prescribed by doc.
It doesn’t seem to be helping but maybe she hasn’t taken it long enough. However, she is not liking the side effects, bad dreams, chest pressure, confusion and the rigidity that she hasn’t had before. I think part of the problem is she is afraid her disease has progressed a lot and these are symptoms of that progression. I think it’s the new med and too high of a dosage but the. I’m not a doctor just a caregiver who tries to be observant and helpful.
Thanks for replies and helpful suggestions I always receive.
Stress makes Parkinson's symptoms worse. Anxiety and panic attacks are stress to the max. Since she is having trouble with the medication I believe it is worth looking into cognitive behavioral therapy which can work for panic attacks.
My husband was on mirtazapine before diagnosis. It made him very sleepy and apathetic so he wouldn’t get out of bed or exercise and he started behaving like he was a 90 year old dementia patient sitting in a chair all day with a blank face. He was only 55 at the time. He tried to get off it after being on it a year weaning slowly over months but then 2 months after being free of it he was so overwhelmingly anxious He was suicidal so I think his body couldn’t handle being without it.Now he is taking 3.75 mg and it seems enough to help him sleep but not so much it makes him dozy.
Well, doc took her off the Mirtazapine.....said it was probably not a good choice. She is now on 5 mg. Lexapro for a week and then if she needs to up it can go to the 10 mg.
Hasn’t been on the other one long enough that she has to wean off so that’s good. I. Praying this one helps her without the bad side effects. I feel like if she doesn’t get the depression and anxiety u dear co tell she won’t ever feel better or be able to do the exercising, et she needs to be doing.
I was on that a few years ago, it could make me twitch and have convulsions to start with for few days. It helps you sleep eventually after a few nights but its horrible the first few nights your muscles just randomly move and i always felt the need to kick the bed in irritation
She had all that plus more. Doc took her off that and has her on Lexapro for now.....5mg for a week and then 10mg is she needs it. Last night she said she slept pretty good and did good most of the day the. This afternoon the panic started and her feet froze to the floor but it passed quicker than before so I’d say that’s progress. Hallelujah!!
