I'm going to say not in my lifetime. Did they give you a clue of what kind of drug is it and what does it do.

15 Years and still not ready? Not impressed. The Medical Industry has not ever cured any disease. They should be called Money Care Not "Health" Care, so obvious. Well, they have cured Wellness. Cure is a 4 letter word to them.

i took part in a trial but only for 3 months and did not notice much difference but admitedly most went on to do 9 months i stopped because i got shingles and also was early in symptoms so more difficult to detect or maybe its a case of not one drug works for everyone

This is our old friend that there have been several threads about with banner headlines like "stops PD in its tracks". It's the one MJFF have funded research into michaeljfox.org/news/pill-s...

The "news" is the phase 1 human trials have happened and seem positive ( so presumably no adverse events - the main purpose of phase 1) and hopefully it will progress to a phase 2 in a reasonable time frame.

Thank you for your positive response. Just because it took 15 years to get to this point, doesn't predict the timing of the next phase. I wonder though why MJFF isn't doing its own research in view of the positive initial outcomes..

If they are at the point where they haven't yet decided to have a phase II trial, I would guess that the soonest they could get to market, if everything went well, odds of which are really unfavorable, would be 6 years and more like 7 or 8 .

I understand it is possible to get approval after phase 2 if the study design, size and outcomes meet criteria and carry out phase 3 as phase 4. Usually for new cancer drugs. It's not normal, but may be possible.

The Royal Melbourne Hospital (Australia) has just completed this trial. When my husband attended the Movement Disorder Clinic there a few weeks ago, I asked about it. The neurologist said they were assessing the results. Will ask again if they don’t release results soon.

It seems to deliver copper to the brain. Does this imply we need more copper? My copper was really high when I had my initial blood tests. I thought too much copper was a bad thing. It’s all so confusing ☹️

Too much copper is a bad thing. Possibly this drug helps cells to absorb needed copper that for some reason they are not properly absorbing. Another possibility – patients on drug trials receive really good care. This is an uncontrolled phase I trial, so patients may be responding to good care or to placebo effect.
