N-acetylcysteine (NAC) is a naturally occurring molecule that replenishes one of the body's antioxidants and now shows potential benefit as part of a standard course of treatment for patients with Parkinson's disease, according to a study published in the journal, Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics. The study found improvements in dopamine levels, the primary neurotransmitter that is specifically decreased in Parkinson's disease, as well as improvements in clinical evaluations of the patients' mental and physical abilities. The study was performed by the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences, as well as the Departments of Neurology and Radiology, at Thomas Jefferson University.

They treated patients with both oral and IV NAC. Other work has cast doubt on oral NAC alone being sufficient. NAC does many good things and I take it
I was really pleased to see these results! I read about it quite a few years ago and my husband DX 4 years ago has taken it on and off during this time. At the moment he is taking it. He also takes B1, q10, D3
Fish oils vit c, and zinc. He’s not had so much foot and toe curling and tremor is less as well. He also exercises with cycling, walking and aqua aerobics. All seem to be helping his mobility.
Results seem clear enough, but will this news reach our Neurologists? Should they prescribe?
I've been taking it along with other aminos now for quite awhile, although not on the whole protocol, but I feel positive results. This reaffirms Dr. Hintz's (and others') studies that included NAC is right on. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
My mental abilities have improved a lot and I need all the help I can get. 🤣 Lots of moodiness otherwise. 😣 Thanks for posting!
Thanks for posting this. Heading to the store to get some ASAP.
I have been taking 2400 mg of NAC x Day.l for about 4 yrs. My PD symptoms have been substantially reduced.
My husband takes 2 x 600mgs daily of NAC! Pills are Swanson’s!
I’m still taking 2400 mg of NAC. Still only mild symptoms after approx 7 yrs. Just completed a new book and online course.

Good luck!
