Council tax

Why has no-one told me that I no longer have to pay Council Tax. I only just heard it on the news tonight that PWP do not have to pay and can claim back payments since diagnosis?

Try to get it all back retroactively, from the date of Diagnoses that the Doctor puts on the form. You may get a few years worth of payments back. Check out what other tax breaks are allowed . I am in Canada and you are probably in G.B . I got back 3 years of taxes paid that was reduced from the personal disability deduction both federal and Provincial.

You can only get a Council Tax reduction of you have severe mental impairment. A diagnosis of Parkinson's alone would be unlikely to qualify. My husband has had Parkinson's for 20 years but only qualified for a Council Tax reduction after he went on to get dementia. Be careful what you wish for!

It would have been good to evade Council Tax, well any financial help would be good.

I can no longer do my job because the parkinson symptoms are too severe. My main problem is with postural instability, tremor is only occasional and mild.

I now have to pay men to do work that I used to do myself and I am struggling to keep my business running and to make a living from it. I run a removals business.
