Vinpocetin and difficulties sleeping

Has anyone taking Vinpocetin experienced difficulties sleeping? Before I started taking it last week, I usually fell asleep pretty fast and woke after 7 hours. After starting Vinpocetin, it sometimes takes two sleeping pills to knock me out. 🙄

I'm using Vinpocetina for 3 months and it doesn't affect my sleep. I take 3 cp. 10 mg with meals per day.

Where can this product be purchased and is a prescription needed?

There is no medical prescription for supplements. I take it on Amazon. My Vinpocetina is produced by Newton-Everett Nutraceuticals, Scottsdale (USA). newton-everett.com

I take it first thing in the morning. It has cured my neuropathy in my feet. 30 mg once a day.

Yes, That is the same dosage I take, early in the morning.

I started taking about 4 months ago and sleep has definitely been a problem. Hard to go to sleep and usually wake within 3-6 hours. Thanks for posting. Will stop for 1-2 weeks and will note if I experience a difference.

Thanks for the reply, keep me posted, I will give it a little more time to see if my body will adjust.

Skme,

Getting back to you. Been off Vinpocetine for about 2 weeks. No real change in sleep really so I would not attribute to it. By the way I take 30mg at 8 in morning.

Thanks for the reply. I was taking 30 mg in the AM and reduced to 10 mg this week and my sleep has been better the past two nights.

I think it helps me a little. Sleep is more important - if it interferes with your sleep I say give it up.

Hi Park, as I wrote in the post I'm using Vinpocetina for 3 months with good results. Do you think that continued use over time can be harmful? Would it be advisable to suspend Vinpocetina for 2/3 months and then leave again for the same period? Thank you

If it is working for you my opinion is to stick with it.

in reply topark_bear

Yes, agreed. Will give it a couple more days and then will stop if sleep issues persist.

Are you getting some relief from it?

If the question is addressed to me, I answer you positively, in fact I feel more lucid mentally.

Given that one of the purported effects of Vinpocetine is increased blood flow to the brain and other areas of the body, I can see where it would have the potential to interfere with sleep. Taking early in the day may help a bit.

Thanks Art, I’m taking it in the morning which is strange why keeps me awake at night. I do find that I have increased focus and more positive outlook.

Skme,

Maybe you can get by on a lesser dose such as 20 mg, 15 mg or 10 mg per day if it is still effective at those lower dosing rates.

I reduced the dose to 10mg and sleep is much better. I still feel benefits from the lower dose.
