Sinemet is great but I am finding that I go a few days with a straight 5hrs sleep - yippee and then I go a few days with sleeping for an hour waking and then ping I am wide awake until 5am or 6am and up at 7am. Hence getting 2 to 3 hrs sleep.
Then I have a night where I totally crash out at 11pm and sleep right through till 7am and am totally off as I have missed my night dosage by hours.
I find it very difficult to cope with being off in the morning and trying to get out to work.
Any thoughts? xx

I am on 2 different doses of cent/carbid plus ropinirole and consider myself LUCKY if I get 5 hours of sleep. For the most part I get maybe 2 to 3 at a time. Im headed to KC Med today for a eval on my coocktail. So in answer: I guess we all from what I have seen or read are in the same sleepless boat.
My retired hubby is the same way with his Sinemet - he doses an awfully lot during the day so he doesn't sleep well at night. He may get a couple hours or so and then it's up and down all night long. Occasionally he will sleep a full 8 hours and after that feel really good for a day or so and then it's back to the old routine. Mentioned it to doctor last week and he said "yes" it is a side affect of the meds. I'm sure it must drive you nuts knowing you have to get to work - you might mention it to your doctor and see if he can adjust your dosage or try something else to help you get a good nights sleep.
I'm happy if I get 2-3 hours a night. I just wish the 2-3 hours were all together at one time but even that is broken up. Then about 4-5 am I get sleepy again but I have to get up at 6 am. I'm just constantly tired
I have tried to determine whether I sleep better with taking my evening dose of Sinemet or not - but the jury is still out.
Last night I took my 4th (evening) dose of Sinemet at 22.00 and we stayed up until 02.00 watching Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (wasn't he just the master of suspense?) and I slept through until 10.00 but the sleep varies
I am lucky that my partner doesn't mind that on a bad night, i use the 2-shift sleeping technique - sleeping for 3 to 4 hours then getting up (I usually play Live Chess on the computer) for up to 3 hours then going back to sleep (which is a very deep sleep) for 3 to 4 hours. She just gets on with her day until i join her
Thank you Frogatt. I was also awake around that time. I was watching a thriller on another side re the Japanese Mafia with Michael Douglas. I had a Sinemet CR at 10. Went to bed at 10:30pm, got back up 15mins later. Did some stretching and watched tv. My left calf muscle had little hard beads in the muscle which really hurt when pressed on and I could not relax after massaging my leg I slept on the couch (my new bed) from about 1:30am to 3:30am. Woke took another Sinemet CR. Leg still playing up. Interestingly the left is supposed to be my good side?? to this seems to happen more and more lately alternating from left to right. This time I did not turn the tv back on but lay on the couch tossing and turning and sweating. Slept from 5:30am to 7:30am. Moved to my fabulous super king size bed when my husband got up at 8am. Took a Standard Sinemet. Got up at 8:30am. 4hrs sleep. Then had an hours nap from 11am to 12noon. Only really got going today at 5pm. Lucky I did not have work today!!! I am getting real fed up with the leg pain.
I had a horrible time with insomnia trying various combinations of otc and rx meds until I hit on this combination: Klonopin .5 (for restless legs syndrome), Tylenol PM 1 tablet, Melatonin 1mg 1 tablet and Cataplex G (B vitamins). For some reason this at bedtime gives me 8 - 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep at night and a hour or 2 nap during the afternoon.
