I know there have been many discussions on this forum regarding the use of Mucuna Pruriens. My husband has been trying to figure out which brand and type may work best for him. I thought it would be a good idea for members who use Mucuna Pruriens to comment on the brand they use, type (powder or pill), % of l-dopa, regiment schedule (to include dosage, timing, etc.). In addition, add any information that may be helpful for others.
So, I'll begin. My husband uses:
Zandopa
Powder
87% l-dopa
1 scoop (included in container) 7.5g = 1.5 tsp
Every 1 1/2 - 2 hours
He also adds at the same time, 1/2 tablet of 25/100 C/L.
My husband, James, is 54 and was diagnosed with Parkinson's in 2015. He has used Zandopa for approximately 1 year. He was taking C/L 25/100 every 2 hours, but he had very little on time. After research, we decided to try Zandopa. Zandopa has been a lifesaver for him (although the taste is horrible). Without it, he would have a difficult time walking. In the beginning, he had approximately 3 hours of on time. Then it reduced to 2 hours, and now it's 1.5 hours. We are assuming that his disease is progressing, but we are wanting to see what others use and try other brands to see if this will make a difference.
