Terrible day for us here in Christchurch NZ

Terribly stressful day here today with terrorist attack near us at the mosque. My kids were in lock down at school, at least one of their classmates they think is dead. Christchurch has gone through terrible earthquakes and people are finally settling back to life after years of stress. 😪😪😪😪

We need prayer for tolerance here and that people don’t retaliate. Scary that this can happen in New Zealand. We thought we were far away from this kind of hate.

I've been to Christchurch. It's a beautiful place, and it's terrible that this could've happened there. I'm so sorry. I pray that people support each other, that the broader community reaches out to those affected directly, and that there is an opportunity for grieving and healing. I send you love, compassion, support, and good energy.

So very sorry the plague of gun violence that we suffer here in the US has spread.

We live in Auckland in Nz. We are all so very sad about this and talk of nothing else right now. We are all in shock that our clean green safe haven has been spoiled... . Being actually involved with your kids school etc must be quite very upsetting indeed. We are Christians and can't imagine someone coming into a Sunday service and just killing people. Perhaps we can now...

Will be praying for you all.

Yes my kids are saying they don’t want to go to church today because they are scared there will be a retaliation shooting. I am a bit scared of being in a big crowd. But we can’t let these guys win.

Such a butcher (the terrorist involved ) should be hanged in public

My Brother In law emigrated to Christchurch fourteen years ago, he tragically died of cancer just after the earthquake with cancer, his wife and children then returned to Enngland because of all the frightening aftershock tremors that followed. He would have been deeply saddened by this latest horror that has been carried out in his beloved City. Prayers to you all.

So many people stand in support of New Zealand. I am shocked at the action of one deranged man and I pray for peace and harmony for this great country.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all in Christchurch. Heartening that your Prime minister wants to actually do something about stopping gun violence.

Such a horrible tragedy at Christchurch, that makes me feel badly for all New Zealanders! It seems like your country was one of the few, left, untouched, by evil, racist, mass murder! My condolences to all families of the victims, and I pray that this won't ever happen again in New Zealand! After hearing the news, I thought, as if they don't have enough problems, with earthquakes. Watching the news, and seeing the shock and horror on people's faces, not "used to" seeing and hearing about mass murder shootings, made me feel so sorry for New Zealanders, the innocent victims of the mosques, and just the fact that this evil massacre happened. We, in the USA, unfortunately, have to deal with mass murders, and gun violence, on a regular basis. Some people have become jaded, to the violence and use of guns to kill others, here in the USA. To settle petty quarrels, people sometimes resort to killing others with guns, here. With the illicit use of meth and fentanyl, and drug sellers and runners, becoming epidemic in many parts of the USA, crime and guns are everywhere! Workplace shootings have become commonplace, seemingly. I always thought, I'd like to move to New Zealand, someday, which seemed like paradise. I hope, with time, that there will be some adjustment to coping with this tragedy, by New Zealanders, but it will never be forgotten!🙏🏻🐼

Yes we felt safe here, even after all the earthquakes . At least the person was not from NZ which is some consolation. I am hoping this isn’t going to set my husband’s anxiety back again. I think the earthquakes and dealing with insurer’s was the root of his chronic anxiety. It took years and we had to take them to the high court before they would pay us out.

It's hard for us to deal with stress in normal, everyday life with the burden of Parkinson's. This is additional stress and we'll pray for you and everyone. Please stay calm and safe.

Sadly a boy in my sons class has died and so has his dad. His brother is in hospital. This is a refugee family our church has been settling in and they only arrived in NZ last year.

I am in Christchurch for the weekend, for my grandsons 2nd birthday, staying right on the edge of the park across from the massacre, constant sirens and helicopters. Ive been noticing my PD has suddenly gotten a lot worse, perhaps its the shock and horror of such a surreal and shocking happening in our normally safe and secure corner of the world.ˋˋ
