Tremors getting worse immediately after taking HDT break?

Hi folks, I've only posted once or twice, but I have a question I haven't been able to find an answer to. 62 year old male, diagnosed at 60, but symptomatic long before. Anyway, I've been taking taking 4 grams of B1 daily and Rock Steady 3 times a week. I haven't noticed any progression during that time. I had read that taking a week or two off from Hdt is a good idea, so I stopped a few days ago. I immediately had a large increase in the amplitude of my hand tremor. Has anybody had this happen? From what I've rear it usually takes a couple of months after stopping for condition to degrade? Anybody? TIA

Yes, Dr. Costantini has always maintained that stopping HDT, after many months of use, should not cause a change immediately in symptoms unless their dose is possbly a bit low, but some forum members have stated that they notice a symptom increase if they miss just one dose and others have stated they can go days while others have reported being able to go a week or two, but I can't recall anyone saying they have been able to go for months without B-1 without seeing a loss of benefit. Based on studies, the serum level of B-1 takes time to drop off, so this is puzzling, but there is not evidence for brain content of B-1 to compare with!

Here is a link to the HDT FAQ page :

Refer to Q&A # 58 at the link above for his answer to this question.

Btw, you are the 32nd forum member who has reported a tremor improvement after adding B-1 to their regimen.

If you feel OK with it, just do not stop it. Listen to your body, no axioma generale here..

Exactly

Maybe it wasn't yet time for you to stop, by the way you didn't state how long were taking the HDT dose before you stopped for a break

Like dadcor mentioned listen to your body... everyone is slightly different both with the dose and the length of time before a break

I have adjusted down to 2g per day and I doubt if I will ever need a break

Ah, Grumpy you are correct, I thought I had mentioned it's been about a year on the 4 grams. I think I'm going to try a couple more days without, as it's not bothering me much hanging out at home and it comes and goes. Thanks for the input everybody!

I've been on B1 for 2 years, started at 4gms daily, now at 250 mg every other day. During these 2 years I found out that my body responded almost immediately. If I take too much I become jittery/anxious, while too little affects my balance.

I have taken HDT every day except one day since May, 2018. I'm going with the "If it Ain't Broke, Don't Fix It" philosophy. 😊

One thing we noticed for sure - when we ran out of B1 my husband became extremely constipated within a couple of days.
