This is the reason I have my bet on Isradipine. If a drug is going to fail, the trial usually ends early.

Well, the last paragraph says, essentially, do not take Inosine and therefore any supplement where the data doesn't show any neuro-protective benefit or any other supplement doesn't have scientific evidence of proof.

The "and therefore" doesn't work for me. A PWP may choose to define 'proof' differently.

The other problem with not taking anything that does not fit 'the medical establishments definition of proof,' is since there's no financial incentive to do studies on plants, such proof may never be produced, but there is plenty of underlying science that something may be helpful is there.

This is known in the business as "halted for futility". I am extremely skeptical of the investigator's comments about this being "safe". A while back I looked but was unable to find the effect of high urate levels on healthy patients. There are plenty of studies regarding its effect on unhealthy patients. I suspect that the combination of high urate levels and being healthy is not common. Here is what the article has to say about safety:

"Don't confuse "relatively safe" with lack of side effects; inosine can cause kidney stones, gout and possibly other harmful conditions."

So apparently "relatively safe" means safe as compared to Parkinson's. Personally I will take my Parkinson's without the gout and kidney stones, thank you.

Inosine does apparently benefit women with PD:

As for safety, my understanding is that urine pH is supposed to be monitored.
