As a 44 year old Mom/StepMom of 6 amazing kids, ages 21 to 3, I simply Don't have time to let my Young Onset Parkinson's control my life. It tries... Oh how it tries some days! But hand in hand with my Super Hero Husband... We are fighting back and reclaiming our right to discover our own path "Through the Park."

Hi Mama. You have my sympathies, and hopefully I can help you. What I have done to overcome my Pd does not cost anything and I don't charge anybody for telling them all about it. Fast walking, together with an MAOb inhibitor that only your doctor can prescribe, regular brain exercise, Positive thinking (which you already have), and learning how to consciously control your movements, all help us to get better.

You may not like the idea of walking fast but I can only say, it works, so do it.

Many people, including doctors will tell you that I don't have Pd so don't listen to what I ell you. I have been diagnosed by four different neurologists and also a sniffer dog, They should know more than anybody who hasn't examined me.

Look at my website - reverseparkinsons.net and contact me. It costs NOTHING!

John do you still take an maob inhibitor? Also do you do conscious walking when you fast walk or eventually do you no longer think about it?

Hi Connie. I stopped taking any Pd medication in 2002 and have not taken anything since then. I have to continue to consciously control my walking and still walk fast. I sort of think about it, but at a much lower level.

I have trouble walking normally. I don't understand how you can walk fast without falling. I am walking backwards for brief periods of time as advised by a physical therapist. I use a walker for balance while doing this.

Hi Sleezy. The reason why you are able to walk backwards is because you are consciously controlling the walking action. You can learn to do that walking forwards. When we learned to walk as young children, we soon walked without thinking what our arms and legs were doing. That does not work any longer.

If you contact me I will send you my videos and a whole lot of other information, free of charge. You can get me on my website - reverseparkinsons.net. I have put all this on other areas of HU but this s the easiest way.

I would appreciate any information you can share with me. My email is maesue.leslie@gmail.com. I had trouble accessing any link on your website that would allow me to communicate with you. Thanks.
