Yes! I'm drinking it as I read your post! I've been drinking it to help a sinus virus! But if it's good for my little neutrons too, I will continue drinking it. Thanks for the information.
Dap1948, I, too, am interested in the elder plant and how it might affect our PD symptoms. I hope you won't mind me grilling you for some details: 1) Do you know from what part of the plant your tea is made? 2) Did you buy it commercially or is it something you made yourself from the plant? 3) If you bought it commercially, can you tell us the name of the company? 4) How long have you been drinking it and how often do you drink it? 5) Can you see any change in your PD symptoms since you've been drinking it? 6) Last question, I promise: do you know the scientific name of the plant? (The only way you would probably know this is if you purchased it commercially and it is printed on the box. It would be a two word, Latin-sounding name.) Thanks for your patience with all my questions.
I'm afraid I'm not going to be much help. I live very near to a company called Neal's Yard Remedies in Dorset, England. In the fields by me, they grew and produce many herbs and essential oils. They weigh me out the elderflower from a big jar and write 'elderflower' on the label! I only began drinking it three weeks ago when I came down with my current virus. I drink it when I fancy it.
Gingerj, I, too, am very interested in the elderberry plant. I've been able to find research using extract made from the black elderberry plant (berries) to significantly shorten the time it takes to get over flu symptoms. But, the article you posted is the only one I've seen about research using the elder flower, specifically Sambucus caerulea. If you see any more research, please let us know.
A word of caution may be in order to anyone interested: one article I read said that extracts from cooked parts of the plant are probably OK. However, raw parts of the plant can be poisonous.
For the last couple of weeks replaced my berry zinger tea with elderflower tea and I have experienced a bit of progression. I have not changed anything else as far as I know. So elderflower is definitely off my menu.
