Sorry to hear it, My husband usually falls backward or sometimes sideways.

Do you find your feet are freezing in place and that is why you fall?

That is correct. My knees are getting a bit bruised but I’m still trying .

Where are you with meds? Can you increase them? What does your neurologist say?

I see her on Wednesday. I will keep you updated. Thanks for caring.

I saw her last week and she was so happy to see how well I am doing. I forgot to tell her that I can now do up my own shoes and Miracle of miracle I can put in my own keepers for my pierced ears. She did increase my third dose of Sinemet from 2 to 3 at 3:00pm. I take it at 7,11,3 and 7 each day. I will text you know how it goes

Thanks again for caring.

I am thank goodness, I was getting pretty depressed. Now I feel so much better, l guess this feeling comes and goes. I hope l can learn how to roll with the punches more often.

I've read that the Parkinson's posture slowly rolls into kind of a ball. I don't know how to fix it, but it seems "normal" with Parkinson's. My husband has trouble walking because his body freezes under stress. When he isn't stressed he does fine.

Stress makes all the difference for so many things.

I haven't fallen yet but I have been experiencing the freezing and leaning forward to the point where I feel like I'm about to fall. I have found if I dip down once or twice, bending at the knees as though I'm about to take a seat, that usually releases the freeze and then i can lift my foot.

I will try that. Thanks!

These are merely MY THOUGHTS on this subject. I am a Pd patient and have been through all of this. This is what I managed to do to correct this problem:

1.You are NOT STANDING ERECT!

2.Look in a mirror, while you are standing sideways on to the mirror.

3.Can you see how you are leaning forwards?

4.If you do not have scoliosis, there is NO REASON, OTHER THAN A BAD HABBIT for you NOT standing erect!

5.While standing at the mirror, pull your body up straight.

6.Keep trying!

7.If you think that you are unable to straighten your posture then how is it that you can lay down flat on your bed?

8.You need to STRENGTHEN YOUR BACK MUSCLES.

9.The best way to strengthen your back muscles is to lay, belly down, on the floor and place your arms by your side and your legs together. Then lift your head and upper body up off the floor.

10.You may not be able to get more than your face off the floor to begin with. Don’t worry, you are doing just fine. Keep trying! Very soon you will be able to get your torso and head up off the floor and hold it all there.

11.If you are not prepared to do this exercise, because it is too difficult, then think about using a walker or wheelchair.

Good Luck!

I like number 11, shook me up bit. I have started the exercise you suggested and my husband say I am doing better already. Each day is a little better. I am looking taller now. Thank goodness for your wake up call. I needed it. I saw my neurologist on Wednesday and since she took me of amatadine a while a go and adjusted my Sinemet I am happy to report that I can put in my own keepers for my pierced ears , tie my own shoes and dress myself. Buttons and all. I. feel like my old self. It has been a long road back. I fell and broke my shoulder, next it was my hip, that put me in a wheelchair for about 4 months. Then there was the being over medicated.. leaving me really bad. I couldn’t even have a conversation with my neighbors at that point. I am so happy now to just feel like a normal person, I am almost too excited. My husband has to remind me that I should be using my walker. But I still suffer from dizziness. I hope to one day not need it that would be perfect , maybe just a cane. I am very optimistic about my future now.

Once again thank you for your help and wake up call?

That is excellent news. I'm very happy for you that you've seen so much improvement.

If you believe you will be able to one day walk unaided and you start to do the walking with the help of your husband, so that you can stand up straight, you WILL stand a good chance of walking better and getting stronger.

Have you looked at my website, www/reverseparkinsns.net yet? If you contact me I will send you a lot more information and my videos, at no cost to your self.

Beware of falling into traps! STRESS is a major contributor to deterioration of Pd symptoms an as such it should be avoided at all costs. I know we cannot just walk away from other people's problems, but we have to ask ourselves if those problems will be helped by your condition getting worse. The answer to that is obviously NO. So if you are unable to help that person with their problem without making your's worse, then don't get involved.

Many problems (STRESS) are caused by relationship issues that can be solved by talking about them and taking measures to get rid of the issue.

You owe it to yourself to not get involved in any issue that makes your Pd symptoms worse

Google the Instep Laser Cane. It detects when you freeze and puts out a red beam which triggers your brain into action to make you keep walking. It is battery operated. It might help.
