First I want to thank the members here for the warm welcome to the group. It means a lot with everyone friendly & smart. Second: my partner and I prefer a natural product over a chemical one, are concerned about Sinemet's future effect on me, etc. We were hoping to substitute Carb/Levo 25mg-100mg tab./4 x a day dosage (generic Sinemet) with Now's Dopa Mucuna /800 mucuna extract per 2 capsule serving ,with 15% L-DOPA, L-Dopa 120mg. This can be bought at several online stores; we would buy at Swanson vitamins online. Does anyone know how to do this, good idea or not? Many thanks for your help in transforming my health.
Can NOW's Dopa Mucuna substitute for Carb... - Cure Parkinson's
Can NOW's Dopa Mucuna substitute for Carb/Levo 25-100MG-100MG Tab? Concerned about Sinemet's future effects ...
You may be better off with the Sinemet. See Dumpelkin's post & comments: healthunlocked.com/parkinso...
Are they saying the L Dopa is killing the patients at a faster rate, or are they referring to the Carb/Levo or the vitamin B6? I am totally new to all of this and not clear what L Dopa is and how it works...help!
1. It is unclear why the death rate is up for over 85 year olds.
2. If you are worried about the effect of Carbidopa on B6 high-dose levodopa will have even greater depletion effect.
3. Levodopa replaces the missing dopamine in your brain.
I use 40% Barlowe’s Mucuna capsules at work but also have Banyan tincture and powder. It becomes a function of preference based on what I’m doing and where I am. I sometimes pair them with vitamins that help the Mucuna cross the blood brain barrier. It helps with my movement and overall feeling of well being.
CBD’s were instrumental in eliminating anxiety after one full year of daily use. I no longer have anxiety and rarely use/need CBDs now.
Moringa gives me lots of energy I mix it into smoothies.
And recently I learned of the benefits of Thiamine HCL from this website and I’m realizing great benefits.
I’m 3.5 years in, doing well enjoying my job, travel, shop and life in general.
That doesn’t go without saying I’ve had moments of fear, now mostly in the past. Each time I push through them I learn more about my condition and gain further confidence this is the correct path for me at this time. By that I mean remaining pharmaceutical free.
Which vitamins do you pair with the mucuna to help it cross the blood-brain barrier?
I did not know I needed vitamins to pair with the mucuna! I am obviously very new to all this and appreciate all the help I can get! Can you write me off-line if you are not comfortable going into detail here? THANK YOU....Nipper
You say you prefer a natural product over a chemical one. There is a natural chemical, produced by the brain, which repairs the damaged brain cells. It is called GDNF (Glial derived Neurotrophic Factor) which means that out glial cells produce this protein and that actually reverses the Pd.
The levodopa and Mucuna both give us more dopamine but repairing the damaged brain cells produces more dopamine on a more permanent basis.
I believe that fast walking and other exercises helps the brain to produce more GDNF because since I started the fast walking I have managed to reverse most of my Pd symptoms and have lived drug-free since 2002. Look at my website - reverseparkinsons.net - and contact me for more information.
bought your fantastic book tho I had a few questions. You start by fast walking as fast as you can...but do you also walk at a regular pace the next day or don't walk at all to give muscles a rest? I want to get off siniment ... how do you set that up?
I thought I read a comment of yours, Mr. Pepper, here that you felt you were wrong about your analysis of fast walking...what did you mean about being wrong and do you have a new theory...or is that what GDNF is: a new theory? thank you again for all your help.
Could you tell me what article it was that you read this please? I have no new theories about the efficacy of fast walking! GDNF is not a theory it is a fact. The name GDNF tells its own story - Glial Derived Neurotrophic Factor - means that the glial cells produce a growth factor that repairs or replaces damaged cells. That is what they do!
I ordered your book a couple years ago and want to thank you for your positive attitude and information. I read it at a time that I was experiencing much anxiety about my diagnosis and it gave me hope. I am wondering if you believe other exercises that keep your heart rate elevated can be just as effective as fast walking?
Hi Nipper. I don't know the answer to that question. I believe that the fast walking, which is not natural because if we are in a hurry we would run. I believe that when we do fast walking the brain thinks we are in trouble and the 'fight or flight' kicks in and that produces 'growth factor' all through the body and one of those growth factors, GDNF, repairs the damaged brain cells and we get better.
Maybe other forms of exercise produce the same conditions, but I cannot think what they might be.
hi, i know its been a while... did you ever figure this one out? currently reducing my dad's sinemet and increasing mucuna powder with great success, but the powder is becoming cumbersome and expensive, so we are hoping to start substituting the powder with something like dopa mucuna 15%. thank you!
