I have not vacuumed in awhile, we have an old, heavy Kirby with a cord and I cannot manage it anymore.
I bought a Shark Navigator Freestyle cordless vacuum cleaner. They are only around $100, you can also buy one on eBay or Amazon. This vacuum cleaner does not break down to a small hand-held unit, is just a vacuum cleaner that has one of the biggest dust cups. It has a charge stand and is very easy to break down and clean out. I'm surprised how well it vacuums . So, I guess I'm in business again.

Thanks, will look at it. The price is good...I need a second vac for my 2nd floor..My house is a split with den, up 6 steps, LR, D, K, UP another 6, 3 bedrooms, up another 6, 1 more bedroom. Tired of lugging my other vac.
I'm really surprised how well it cleans especially after a good cleaning with a heavy vacuum cleaner that my husband does. We have three chihuahuas that shed and it picks up their hair very well.
yes, its definitely time to get rid of the kirby - they could kill a 20 yr old. i bought a shark rocket vacuum about 6 months ago, and its the best vacuum ive ever used. i used to own a commercial/residential cleaning service, so ive tried alot of vacuums. it has 2 brushes (one is a fuzzy roller), which makes it great on floors. it picks up pet hair, rice, sugar; things that other vacuums will not do. and its so easy to clean - everything just pops on and off. its around $199, but i just bought a second one on ebay -brand new in box for $149. it comes in corded & cordless models. and no, i do not work for shark.....
I have a shark that is light and self propelled. I love it. It swizzles easily and gets low enough to go under furniture like a dream . It is light but has a very powerful suction.
