My husband has been taking Madopar for the last 5 years and has started getting bad reactions an hour after taking. He says it feel like every nerve in his body is being electrocuted and pulled out with tweezers. They also knock him out for 2 hours and I can see him writhing in agony. This usually happens after taking the first tablet of the day. Does anyone else have this problem.
The stress of taking care of him for the last 5 years has also given me depression and Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and I'm on medication. I've been keeping a daily diary for 2 years, and it reads like a horror story.

Is he taking standard Madopar or Madopar CR? If standard he may be getting overdosed initially:
"percentage of patients wishing to continue on each treatment ...(64% on Madopar CR, and 55% on standard Madopar).... some patients responded better to Madopar CR and some to standard Madopar."
