For the record. SJS Syndrome occurs quite rarely but it happens. The list of triggers is extensive. The reaction to B1 seems both unusual and severe.

We who supplement diversely ought be aware. Here's a pretty fair listing.

Medicines (listed alphabetically)

This list of drugs known to cause SJS/TEN is not exclusive.

Did you or someone here develop this in reaction to B1?

Juliegrace,

In a different thread a PwP described an unusual and severe reaction to oral thiamine supplement. When we take an oral supplement or medication, we are also ingesting the capsule's or pill's other "inert" ingredients. SJS is very rare. The reaction to a thiamine supplement and/or its ingredients suggested that SJS out be known about by HUpd mates who ingest supplements or meds.

I learned about SJS from a person who had developed SJS 20 years earlier. More recently,a pre-teen in my small town developed symptoms of possible SJS. Her parents and doctor recognized the symptoms as possible SJS, treated her as if it was SJS or TENS, and sent her by ambulance to a not too distant children's hospital with a burn unit. Luckily, the local doc's treatment managed to qwell her immune reaction. She did not progress to TENS or SJS.

I will fetch the link to the thiamine reaction post.

If it was the post from ecurb, I read it. I didn't recognize the reaction as what is described in this link, by which I mean I am not seeing the connection. But it's late and I am off meds so maybe I am missing something.

I did not mean to imply that SJS was likely. Just wanted to offer SJS as a longshot that might be considered, that ought be known about.
