Is there a relationship between parkinson & persistant scalp itching?

I reckon there is.

I believe there is. I have head itching at times but not everyday. Do a search on "itching" on this website and you'll find a few threads on the subject.

Up until six weeks ago I never really noticed anything other than an itchy chin, but now I suddenly find myself scratching the scalp because it also tickles whilst the meds start to kick in. Dyskinesia related I imagine (perhaps small overdose response?) who knows.

Interesting. I figured my itchy scalp was due to something fungal. No flaking but dandruff shampoo seems to give temporary respite. On the other hand oral itraconazole does not seem to be touching it.

The 'tickle' effect I am getting feels more inside, or within; rather than an on the surface sensation like one gets with eczema etc.

Interesting.. perhaps a peak dose phenomena.

I'm beginning to think that may be so.

Always had itchy chin as meds appear to take effect, but the itchy scalp thing started when my sense of smell suddenly returned (despite having a Flu' Cold) after trying a new home recipe based on earlier trials I undertook 5 years ago in search of the illusive Natural remedy.

So something you found gave you back your sense of smell?

It is not the first time the sense of smell has returned; so putting it down to any specific compound would be out of the question without scientific tests. It may be just an unconscious trigger in placebo effect, from or through an unidentified bacteria oddity of sorts, and the sense may then simply fade & dissipate as before.

Yeah, that's what the researchers are supposed to be finding out, right?? I mean after they cure everything else.

We are all effectively researchers or part in that process. But yes, I get periods of frustration and wish a real break through would rear its beautiful head.

I don't know if anybody else has made the claim that this is a Pd symptom. I claimed it in my book, written in 2002. I could not swear to this being correct but it drives me crazy, especially when I am tired or stressed. It is obviously a nerve problem and I took the liberty of applying it to my Pd.

my sister has PD and complains of the same thing. Her neurologist recommended dandruff type shampoo.
