When I started , I couldn’t wait the four hours for the next one.
Now there are days when I don’t feel like that.
Can I alter the amount I take safely

Curious, which med are you taking and why do you no longer need it? Don't forget it's always a good idea to talk to your neurologist about the medications and listen to your body, of course.
Sinimet. When I started the difference it made was amazing like someone put a switch to on. Recently I have noticed that on some days I can go without a tablet and I don’t feel too bad.
I am getting stronger each day and some days as long as I stay at home I can feel quite good On other days it is not so and on those days I never forget a tablet
Interestingly I never forget my cumin oil and mushroom powder though
So what do you think
I agree with laglag. I think a consistent, as possible, level of sinemet in your system is probably beneficial. Even if you and your doc decide a lower dose is all that's needed.
Sinemet is for symptomatic relief. If you are feeling good without it AFAIK there is no downside to skipping doses.
My thoughts are, and this is what I do with the ok from my neurologist, is I adjust my C/L occasionally, but I find if I try to extend it too long of a time period, it takes awhile for the next one to kick in. It's kind of a fine line.
I was told it was important to take each dose regularly at the exact time. However I frequently miss my lunchtime dose if I feel ok as I believe less is better. One neuro did tell me that we should be 'bathed in dopamine' to prevent the synapses dying, but I've never found any other info to support this other than that smokers don't get PD as much ( as nicotine acts a bit like azilect).
I find it really frustrating that this most basic of questions goes unanswered. Should we take the meds or avoid them as much as possible while still having a good quality of life?
(That's just a rhetorical question!).
My dr points out that everyone with PD is so individual that it's really up to us to adjust our meds to how we feel is right. He encourages me to adjust only one thing at a time but particularly with C/L said go for it, increase or decrease noting changes in effect in a book.
My husband is going on an extended release Sinemet (generic) to keep him through the night. I'm optimistic he won't wake me up in a panic during the night as he often does , because he is out of it in his system. It makes a huge difference when he doesn't take it on time.
