Yes, absolutely.

The opposite for me. Much stronger and less symptomatic since reducing it drastically--not all at once, of course. Must be done gradually. Anyway, just goes to show you how very different each one of us is in our symptoms and reactions to the meds.

How much did you decrease by and how long did it take .

And how long have you been on them

My husband has been up and down on his medication of Sinemet. He currently takes 25/100, 2 pills in the morning, 11/2, 5 hrs later, then another

1 1/2. He started at 6 then slowly kept reducing due to hallucinations. Got down to 4 but that’s when he did become weaker and mobility became an issue. Hallucinations did not letup so have come to the realization that his Mobility is more important so we are back to the 5 pills currently and will increase to six. Half pill at a time. For us it’s every two weeks.

Hi Connie. This is the picture! THERE IS NO CURE FOR PD!

What can we do about it?

The only way found so far is EXERCISE!

What treatments do anything to slow down the progression or even reverse the progression of pd? NIL. How many treatments claim to do this? PLENTY. Just pay your money and take a chance, because none of them give you a guarantee. Can you get your money back?

What exercise can you do that can and has reversed Pd symptoms? The only lone I know, because I have done it, is fast walking. I know, how can I expect peopl ewith Pd to walk fast?

I am a Pd sufferer, diagnosed in 1992, when I was still an exercise freak. I increased my gym to 90 minutes a day for the next two years. Did it help? NO! I continued to get worse, but a lot quicker.

I then joined an organisation called RUN/WALK for LIFE. I started walking for 20 minutes as fast as I could, every second day for the next 2 weeks, then for 25 minutes for 2 weeks then 30 etc until I got to i hour. The MAGIC ONE HOUR. At that point my Pd had already improved quite noticeably. My time had reduced from over 10.5 minutes per K, down to less than 9 minutes a K. I have never stopped since then and in 2002 I came off my Pd medication and have lived a normal life since then.

Why has no neurologist spoke to me about this? I will leave that to your own imagination.

In 2002 I found that if I consciously controlled my walking then I was able to walk without stumbling or shuffling, which I still do if I am nor concentrating on what I am doing. I did a Parkrun last Saturday and had a nasty fall. I finished the race, bleeding badly from head injuries and knee injuries, I still finished the 5 kilometres in less than 46 minutes, including the time taken to pick up the pieces and find things to stop the bleeding. I am on blood thinners, so I bleed a lot. I am 84 years old and have other health problems in addition to Pd. I walk 7 kilometres on the main road in our retirement village every second day. Why would I do all this at my age? The answer is that I am healthier then most people in our village and I am going to stay that way. I had 5 stitched removed from my mouth, where my front teeth went through my top lip, I have spent a whole week in pain and have had to have a brain scan and XRays for broken bones, but all were perfect. I will be back walking next Monday.

I haven't had to think about my Pd fir the past 17 years. How many of you can say that?

START DOING FAST WALKING AND STOP LOOKING FOR SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT EXIST - A CURE FOR PD!

I have had all the stitches out but I still have severe bruising and a very sore arm. I have no broken bones but I am unable to do any walking yet.

Thanks for answering

John
