indescribable. I remember that feeling. Six years ago after a one year battle and five surgeries because of two post op infections, pic lines and disapointments. After all is said ad done and 6 successful years including one new battery exchange (successfully done in one out patient visit) I would do it all again!! It has helped tremendously. It has added many useful years to my life!
I can only think someday in the future when one of our skulls are on display next to the early lobotomy ones someone can comment "how barbaric" about it.
I assume that you mean general anesthesia-GA.
I had mine done.5 years ago at OSHU in Portland. I waited 4 weeks to be programmed though the unit was on very low immediately after surgery. I felt a lot better during the waiting phase and even better after the programming was complete. Since then I am still doing fairly well but this disease is progressive.... but I'm certain that I'd probably be in a wheelchair without it today. Good luck and expect the best!
I am a week away from turning on, after a month after DBS surgery and am off worse than before surgery. Sure hope it is worth it.
