Hello. Anyone doing a lectin diet? I am just starting to have slight tremor in left hand, some random dystonia and fatigue. I am fighting back with a complete change in diet....amongst other things. My dad had PD for 23 years...and chose to do only meds. I am taking a different route to see if the outcome changes. I am curious if anyone is looking at lectins too?
Lectin diet: Hello. Anyone doing a lectin... - Cure Parkinson's
Lectin diet
So are you not taking any meds? Lectin diet looks more preventative than anything from googling it? I guess it's a lectin free diet?
Yes, it is a lectin-avoidance diet. Lectins cause inflammation and I am trying to calm my brain and body down. It appears PD is inflammation and gut related...thought I would hit it where it all began. I am not taking meds and don't intend to any time in the near future. I want to see what nutrition and exercise does to slow it down. My goal is to "recover". I started with a vegan grain-free diet but am modifying it to exclude high lectin foods.
Ae healthy diet is essential, but no diet is going to reverse the Pd symptoms. Only exercise has been proven to be able to reverse the symptoms. So start doing fast walking or riding a bike or even boxing.
In an open mind....all things are possible. Yes, exercise is paramount! It actually doesn't reverse the symptoms, it retrains another part of the brain to take the job over. Diet won't reverse the symptoms, but it will reduce inflammation and possibly reduce symptoms. Coupled with exercise....that's a win-win situation. Thanks for your reminder about exercise!
Hello NRyan, I was wondering if you stuck with the Lectin free diet? I have been on it for about a year.
