Overactive bladder

It is my husband who has Parkinson's, but i see many of you Parkies have over active bladder. The medication cost of Detrol LA,capsules, or it's generic, tolterodine tartrate, is very expensive, I figured it is about $5 a pill. I can't get along without it unless i want to be up 7 times a night to the bathroom. It cuts it down to 2 or 3.

I found that using HALF of a capsule of the 4mg. works just as well as a whole one. That means I'm taking 2 mgs. a night. I bought empty gelatine capsules and i pour half of a 4mg into it and swallow the other half. It doesn't seem to matter if you swallow the little beads out of a capsule. They still seem to release medication over a 24 hour period. I have found 2 mg works as well as 4 mg and I'm saving a lot of money.

You may save even more money by checking Costco price on prescriptions. I don't take Detrol, but Costco has very low prices on my other prescriptions and you don't have to be a Costco member to use their pharmacy, at least not in Colorado. When you go in the door and they ask to see your membership card just tell them you are going to the pharmacy.

See if there is a Urologist near you that does Urgent UR Treatments. It is paid for by Medicare & Cigna

I'm happy with my treatment. I wrote just to tell others how i make two capsules from one, i save money, and it works just as well.

Goodrx really does save a lot. By going from a 30 day prescription to a 90 day prescription and using Goodrx, I saved 80% on a drug.

I probably get the best deal with my health insurance on the price. It isn't just the price. I was explaining on how i get two pills out of one by splitting the capsules up in another empty gelatine capsule and the 2 mg. is working as well as 4mg. Detrol LA is known to cause cognitive problems, and I think i feel sharper on the smaller dose.
