Do you wake up in the middle of the night screaming? If so how do you stop or lessen them.I don't remember when I do it but the other people in the house do.
Night Terrors: Do you wake up in the middle... - Cure Parkinson's
Night Terrors
This could be a side effect of one of your medications.
I dont wake up either. In my case this was happening before i was dx, after i was dx and also before starting medication. It is a symptom of PD for me.
I can also talk, laugh, argue, cry, hit out and shake. My husband is a blessing. He puts up with it all. And i can be sleeping (8 hrs) thru all this and hardly move some nights.
I'm on Carbidopa-Levodopa 25-100 tab 4x/day, Carbidopa-Levodopa ER 50-200 tab 1x/day, Selegiline 5mg 1x/day
What meds are you on sistadred?
I have night terrors and wake up screaming. It doesn't happen very often, and I do remember it in the morning. I take Rytary and Azilect. I keep wondering whether it is the drugs or a symptom.
You may have REM sleep behavior disorder in which you act out violent dreams. Mine is readily controlled by Clonazapam. No more terrors. Best wishes.
I've been taking Clonazapam for several years, .5 mg, and never had any problems.
I presume the "how are you doing?" was aimed at me since ending the plasma study. I have a stronger tremor (which is still only about 20-30 minutes total per day); I can feel a tremor in my face (very slight) which is new and my energy level is not quite as high as when I was receiving the plasma. Sleep is quite good; no problems with constipation, nausea, gas, balance, freezing, etc. So just a bit of tremor and needing little 10 minute naps now and then. Definitely a positive report. Thanks for asking.
Yes, it can be disconcerting and embarrassing! I scream bloody murder or bellow angrily. My next door neighbor and I have a deal: If I pound on the wall after screaming I'm really in trouble; if not, she should ignore the screaming. Mind you, this started before my Dx and before my tremor started.
Then there's the acting out. In those cases, I don't have violent dreams. Rather, I dream I'm about to plunge into a refreshing sea water whirlpool or something equally fine. That's when I wake up on the floor with a black eye and little birdies going around and around my head.
I started having night terrors well before my PD diagnosis, so meds aren't the cause. My poor husband has to awaken me when I start screaming in fear or yelling angrily so that my mind can reset. It's most embarrassing when we travel!
