I'm not smart. I have two Masters Degrees, and a teaching credential and spent my life as a teacher and a mental health therapist. I helped some but I could have more if I was smarter.
My Dad was smart. He was a blacksmith. He could glance at a problem and his brain could vision how to fix it in a second. He asked me once what I did for a living. I told him I help people. He said "so they pay you for that?"
I am a manual laborer trying to squeeze into a smart brain. I don't have one
Watch me Daddy!

the bible says...' man's wisdom is the mere foolishness of God '.... so intelligence and wisdom is something we all want ... the question is ... what do we do with what we know??
My Dad was a member of the greatest generation. He was the best carpenter, plumber, electrician, roofer, mason, painter. You get the idea. There was little money back then so you had to know how to get things done. Mom and Dad never complained. They raised six of us - four girls and two boys. Father told me "if you really love your job, you'll never work another day in your life."
Our kids go off to college at 18-19 years old. At that age do they really know what they want to do for the rest of their life? There are plenty of 25 and 30 year olds who still don't know!
Everyone has a talent. Most of the time it takes more than 20 years to find this out.
I'm chuckling over here, fJohn. Hey, guess what? You're talking about two different kinds of intelligence. I wish I had your dad's capacity for strategic thinking too. Sometimes I despair at my miniscule brain. However, I somehow sense you have the perfect degree of brain power for the kind of work you do, which is invaluable.
Those words caught my interest. They could be the first page of a page turner if you chose to try to make a living as a writer, a creative writer. They may be the introduction of the prime character in a novel for example. Continue to write about yourself is my encouragement. .
