Head pain with PD

My first post.

My 66 yr old husband, diag after several years of symptoms that mimic PD. Now a few years since diag but struggling with symptoms for over 5 years. Question? Does anyone suffer with crushing head pain??? Also he has spells where his knees gets so weak like rubber and if he has nothing to grab hold of he will go down. Thrashing, kicking, talking loud in bed and has fallen out of bed when having them. Exhausted and depressed. He sees a family doctor/phycologist/pharmisist, a neuroligist, a counsoler, goes to a support group, did the BIG therapy. Quiet voice, cant hear (not PD) cant smell or taste. Does not want to eat. Hates his dentures and cant adjust to them. Besides he has arthritis and many skeletal surgeries and pain and suffers with depression. Hes given up and just sits all day. He was a rancher, trained horses, farmer, could do anything, a realtor, had pilot license etc. , 3 kids, 8 fab grandkids and me his devoted wife of 46 years and 2 loyal loving labs. On 7 morning meds, 4 night pills and pain patch. I know exercise, find a hobby, volunteer, live for the day. Not happening.

Question: Back to the head pain. Stabbing, crushing, squeezing! Anyone with PD have these?

God's Blessings on you both. YOU must take care of yourself otherwise you will be no good to anyone..it will give you the spirit to go on. Obviously nothing is working so I would be dumping his physicians along with his myriad of pills / For real help go to TTAC and get some real honestty and advice On the site if you scroll aroumd you will be able to find some contact details where you can be directed to find find assistance. The headaches may well be caused by chronic dehydration, It seems to me that your other half would greatly benefit from homemade juices particularly vegetable with a little apple or black grapes to sweeten it slightly to tastebut be sure to include a little greenery like celery and romane lettuce. Juices are by far the quickest way to get vital nutrients into the body and if swallowing is a problem a drinking straw will work wonders. Smoothies work wonders too but the digestion process is longer . At the present time I whole heartedly recomend juicing plus the best quality ( NOT shop bought) Pumpkin seed oil 15mls twice a day which can be taken as is or added to juices or over salads etc. OR highest quality coconut oil. Pumpkin seed oil should be fresh and coldpressed

MANY BLESSINGS OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU.

DEAR RETIREAT63

I was diagnosed with PD a year ago. My hell headaches began 5 months ago.....the only medication that worked/helped for me is VOLTARIN SOPOSOTRIES and medical oxygen....my pain was cluster headaches.

The first link, a PDF file, is an article about diclofenac sodium aka VOLTARIN:

THANX SILVESTROV

I only used the Voltarin twice a day while I was suffering cluster headaches. I found it to have a better/longer effect than morphine administered at hospital for pain. I have stated using medical cannabis oil twice a day and can definitely feel less shakinnnnnnn........STAY SAFE x

Hi Reatire at 65

I am so sorry to hear how awful your husbnd feels = Have suffered with head but in a dfferent way. Extreme heavyness and pressure when I walk feels like ton weight is swaying from left to right in my head but only when walk. It slows me down and it's exhausting. Some times pain in back of next as well - specialist etc don't understand why.

Don't know if that fits in with your husbands experience - once it was suggested to me it could be anxiety which I also suffer from. Could it be side effects from meds, worth asking.

Good Luck keep trying never give up - if I hear of anything which could help will let you know.

Oh dear, how hard is this and for you both. Does your husband take his meds only in the morning and at night? No other times?

Retireat I am so sorry this is happening. 65 here, diagnosed 2 years ago but had symptoms many years. No headaches but plenty of exhaustion due to PD. Yesterday I was outside installing some drip irrigation - not exactly heavy exercise - and just had to sit frequently lest I fall over.

I also have sleep disturbance. Not acting out but I believe that can be caused by PD.

As to his headaches you might want to consider his other conditions as possible cause.

don't have severe headaches, just signal headaches that respond to lactaid. you might watch for food allergies....take digestive enzymes.....of course before that you should check out colon health or just take probiotics.

you might try eliminating inflammation caused by over active immune system....generally educate yourself and observe, observe.

great info on inflammation at mercola.com. they accidentally discovered that depression was caused by inflammation which was caused by auto-immune condition.

Your 66 yr young husband has been diagnosed 5 years?

he has spells where his knees gets so weak like rubber and if he has nothing to grab hold of he will go down. - PD related, when does it happen?

Thrashing, kicking, talking loud in bed and has fallen out of bed when having them. - R.E.M. Sleep disorder caused by PD

Exhausted - PD

depressed. PD

He sees a family doctor/phycologist/pharmisist, a neuroligist, a counsoler, goes to a support group, did the BIG therapy.

Quiet voice, - PD

cant smell - PD

No taste because lost sense of smell

Does not want to eat. - many PD reasons including depression, uncomfortable dentures, slow gut leads to feeling full so small meals best...

arthritis and many skeletal surgeries - usually PD related especially shoulder and hips ( if not recognised often unnecessary surgery )

pain - very common in PD, many different types of PD pain

Hes given up and just sits all day. - apathy of PD. He Would be different if he could be as its Not like him - He was a rancher, trained horses, farmer, could do anything, a realtor, had pilot license etc. , 3 kids, 8 fab grandkids and a devoted wife of 46 years and 2 loyal loving labs.

On 7 morning meds, 4 night pills and pain patch. - suggest keep a diary for a few days, symptoms and meds and see if there is any relationship i.e. Does he have some good times when the meds are working?

I know exercise, find a hobby, volunteer, live for the day. Not happening.-because of PD executive function problems, needs help here as won't initiate .

Question: head pain. Stabbing, crushing, squeezing! not obviously PD like the othersymptoms are. Needs checking out.

What meds for PD does he have and for depression ?
